My thoughts about the book:
I almost need a whole month to finish this one book, which doesn’t mean I haven’t had time to read, because in this time I almost read 8 other books, which were great and thrilling, where ‘Burned’ was just annoying and I also had to remind me to keep reading so I could finish it at last. This fact alone should show how I liked this book and how my opinion is to this 7^th HoN book, but I want to make a little explanation nonetheless.

The story begins like in every other book exactly where the last part has ended and tells us how Zoey’s soul shattered after she had to watch how Kalona killed Heath and then she  had thrown her whole spiritual strength at Kalona. What here maybe sounds interesting, unfortunately, is not written very thrilling in the book, especially in the beginning where the story really dragged and needed much time to improve.

At the beginning Zoey finds herself in the ‘otherworld’ and spends there her time with Heath, who wants to stay with Zoey in this ‘in between world’ and doesn’t plan to go on in the peaceful world where death souls go. In the meantime Zoey grows paler every hour, while she is losing her memories because of her splittered soul and which parts of her also whirl around in this ‘otherworld‘ and which she can’t unite together again in herself. For whom this is too complicated or too supernaturally, I’m sorry to say that it won’t become better throughout the book. A large part of the story happens in this ‘otherworld‘ in which all physical rules are taken away and to add is the fact that in this world Zoey irritates me even more and is much more nerve-racking than already in the ‚real world’.
Furthermore this whole thing with Zoey and her coming close death was blown up too much and too desperate, that I actually had to laugh at the end because of the solution the authors presented us. It was too simply knitted and basically the whole middle part of the book could have been scratched if only Zoey had put herself together again earlier. But to be honest I was never a fan of Zoey and also this book could not persuade me of her. And slowly I really ask myself, how can an author present her main character like this? For me Zoey has nothing particularly and special, charming or an attitude and behavior that makes her likeable. Hence, it is very irritating that all other characters in the book like Zoey and honor her like a young queen. *rubbish* For me this is totally understandable.

But I also want to mention a few positive sides: Therefore I start with the beginning love story of Stevie Rae and Rephaim. No matter how incredibly it may sounds, because actually he is Kalona’s son and therefore a raven mocker. But during the whole story we got to know Rephaim and his thoughts and with his refusing attitude and ‘I don’t want to be good‘-behavior, though he has already changed to the good and cares about other, about Stevie Rae, he started to win over my heart. Other positives things in this book were Stark (although he also scratched a little on my tolerance border with his unbelievable love for Zoey) and of course Aphrodite and Darius. Aphrodite brings a fresh wind in the whole plot and I like her with her hard shell and with her behave from high above and her ‘diva-attitude’, which she’s just using to protect herself (100 percent better than Zoey). Now I’m curious whether the plot is moving upwards again or if the story just keeps interesting only by the minor characters, or if the main plot all around Zoey also increases again in quality and in suspense.

Cover:
It’s nice to so also a other character on the cover besides Zoey, and though this Stevie Rae looks to innocent and childlike for me and her attitude in the book, it’s okay and suitable.

All in all:
This is another long book which is stretching like gum and where the supporting story with Stevie Rae, Rephaim and Aphrodite is more interesting than the main one. Just a book for real fans of the House of Night series – others could get their fingers burned.

Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Ich habe fast einen ganzen Monat gebraucht um dieses eine Buch zu Ende zu lesen und das bedeutet nicht, dass ich keine Zeit zum Lesen hatte. Ganz im Gegenteil, den alleine in diesem Monat habe ich ca. 8 andere Bücher gelesen, die mich mitgerissen und gefesselt haben, während dieses hier eher einen Zwang darstellte. Diese Tatsache alleine dürfte genügen um meine Meinung zu diesem siebenten Teil der HoN Serie zu zeigen, aber ich möchte trotzdem ein wenig näher darauf eingehen.

Die Geschichte beginnt wie in jedem Buch genau dort, wo der letzte Teil geendet hat und erzählt wie Zoey’s Seele zersplittert nachdem sie mit ansehen muss, wie Kalona Heath ermordet und sie ihre gesamte geistige Kraft auf ihn schleudert. Was hier vielleicht interessant klingen mag, ist leider im Buch nicht besonders mitreißend geschrieben und gerade am Anfang plätschert die Handlung einfach so dahin. Zoey findet sich in der Anderswelt wieder und schlägt dort ihre Zeit mit Heath tot, der vor hat in dieser Zwischenwelt von Leben und Tod, mit Zoey zu bleiben, während Zoey immer mehr verblasst und ihr Gedächtnis, aufgrund ihrer zersplitterten Seele, verliert, die ebenfalls in dieser ‚Anderswelt‘ herum schwirren, diese aber nicht wieder in sich vereinen kann. Für wem das jetzt zu kompliziert klingt oder zu übernatürlich vorkommt, dem muss ich sagen, dass es im Buch nicht wirklich besser wird. Es spielt sich ein sehr großer Teil in dieser ‚Anderswelt‘ ab, in der alle physikalischen Regeln außer acht genommen wurden und hinzu kommt noch, dass hier Zoey noch mehr nervt als schon in der ‚realen‘ Welt. Weiters war diese ganze Sache mit Zoey und ihrem nahe kommenden Tod zu sehr aufgebauscht und zu hoffnungslos, dass ich dann am Ende direkt lachen musste, wie die Autoren ihre Lösung dazu präsentierten. Es war viel zu einfach gestrickt und im Grunde hätte man den ganzen mittleren Teil weg lassen können, wenn sich Zoey nur früher wieder zusammen gerissen hätte. Aber ich war noch nie ein Fan von Zoey und auch dieses Buch konnte mich nicht von ihr überzeugen. Und langsam frage ich mich wirklich, wie man so seinen Hauptcharakter präsentieren kann? Den für mich hat sie nichts besonders und spezielles, liebenswertes oder eine Einstellung und Verhalten, welche sie für mich sympathisch macht. Daher ist es sehr nervig, dass ihr alle Charaktere im Buch verfallen sind und sie huldigen wie eine junge Königin. Für mich unverständlich. *Kopf schüttel*

Um auch ein paar positive Seiten anzusprechen, komme ich ohne Umschweife auf die beginnende Liebesgeschichte von Stevie Rae und Rephaim, wie unglaublich sie auch klingen mag, da er eigentlich Kalonas Sohn und somit ein Rabenspötter ist. Aber während der gesamten Handlung hindurch lernte man ihn und seine Gedanken kennen und er hat sich mit seiner ablehnenden ‚ich will doch gar nicht gut sein‘- Einstellung, die er aber nicht leben konnte, weil er dafür zu sehr an Stevie Rae gebunden war, doch in unser Herz stehlen können.
Weiter Pluspunkte waren für mich Stark, obwohl auch er durch seine Zoey-Vergötterung etwas an meiner Toleranzgrenze kratzte, und vor allem Aphrodite und Darius. Sie bringt einen frischen Wind in die gesamte Handlung und sie gefällt mir mit ihrer ‚äußeren harten Schale‘ und mit ihrer von oben herab- ‚Diva‘- Nummer, die sie abzieht um sich selbst zu schützen, hundertmal besser als Zoey es bisher je geschafft hat.
Man darf gespannt sein, ob sich die Handlung wieder nach oben bewegt bzw. ob die Geschichte weiterhin nur von den Nebencharakteren beflügelt wird, oder ob auch der Hauptplot rund um Zoey wieder an Qualität und Spannung zunimmt.

Cover:
Schön neben Zoey auch einmal andere Charaktere auf dem Cover zu sehen, obwohl mir Stevie Rae hier einfach zu jung und kindlich rüber kommt und es nicht ganz zu ihrem Verhalten und Charakter als rote Vampirin passt.

All in all:
Ein weiterer langer Teil, der sich wie Gummi zieht und nur durch die Nebenhandlungen mit Stevie Rae, Rephaim oder Aphrodite erträglich wird. Nur was für hartgesottene House of Night – Fans; die anderen könnten sich daran die Finger ‚verbrennen‘.

Nachdem Zoey gemeinsam mit ihren Freunden Kalona und Neferet die Stirn geboten haben und mit Hilfe des Kreises beide verjagen konnten, entscheiden sich die Jungvampire, nach einer kurzen Dauer im Kloster der Benediktinerschwestern, dazu ins House of Night zurück zu kehren. Dort angekommen werden sie Zeuge von der Verbrennung von der Vampirlehrerin Anasastasia und müssen erkennen, dass nur wenige der Jungvampire und Vampire sich gegen die Rabenspötter, nach Zoeys Flucht aus dem House of Night, gestellt und den Kampf gesucht haben. Nachwievor ist die Macht Kalonas im Internat spürbar und beeinflusst die Schüler und Lehrer mit seiner Magie, deswegen Zoey und ihre Freunde gezwungen sind, sich nach Italien aufzumachen um ihm ein für alle mal von dieser Welt zu schicken. Doch dann kommt alles anders, als geplant…

Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Der Schreibstil von P.C und Kristin Cast hat sich in diesem Buch von der ersten Seite an definitiv geändert. Ich weiß nicht genau woran das liegt, ein wenig wirkt es als ob ihnen jemanden geholfen hätte, aber es hat deutlich an Niveau zugenommen, und hat etwas an den nervigen jugendlichen Ausdrücken verloren, obwohl es immer noch frisch klingt und schnell und leicht zu lesen ist. Daher bin ich wirklich sehr positiv überrascht vom neuen Schreibstil und hoffe, dass sich dies auch in den nächsten Büchern fortzieht. Über die Geschichte selber: Es beginnt genau dort, wo das vorherige Buch geendet hat und somit befindet sich der Leser sofort wieder mitten in der Story. Obwohl wie immer die Geschehnisse der gesamten vorherigen Büchern erklärt wird, ist es mir dieses Mal weniger lang vorgekommen und es hat mich nicht so sehr gestört wie sonst. Außerdem wurde der Handlungsverlauf dieses Mal viel schneller interessant und der Spannungsbogen intensiver und lebhafter aufgebaut, mit mehr Intensität und Gefühl. Weites bin ich sehr froh darüber, dass Zoey endlich beginnt sich zu verändern (hoffentlich anhaltend) und sie vom nervtötendenen Girly zum ernst zu nehmenden Charakter wird. Ich bin zwar noch immer kein riesiger Fan von ihr, aber jetzt ist sie zumindest erträglich und annehmbarer als in den Büchern zuvor. Zum Teil liegt es sicher daran, dass sie endlich begriffen hat, das sie nicht 3 Typen gleichzeitig haben kann und den Mut hatte Eric den Laufpass zu geben, um sich nun endlich von ihren Jungsproblemen mehr auf ihren eigentlichen Job als Hohepriesterin zu konzentrieren. Obwohl sie ja nach wie vor gleichzeitig etwas mit Stark und Heath am Laufen hat, finde ich es bei den beiden ok, weil beide Beziehung anders sind auf ihre Art und Weise und weil die zwei Jungs weniger Problem damit haben und mit der Situation zu recht kommen. Und um ehrlich zu sein, finde ich auch beide Typen umwerfend: Zu einem mag ich Heath weil er einfach total ‚gut im Herzen‘ ist und immer wieder an das Positive denkt, sowie einen glücklich macht und zum lächeln bringt. Auf der anderen Seite ist Stark mit seinem innerlichen Kampf zwischen Gut und Böse, der aber immer wieder gute und erwachsene/ bedachte Entscheidungen trifft und sich nur um andere kümmert (naja, hauptsächlich um Zoey) und der immer als ‚Bad-Boy‘ rüber kommen will, aber es im Grunde nicht ist und das weiß man. Außerdem bin ich ein Fan von Aphrodite, mit ihrer ewigen Nörgelei um sich vor Verletzungen zu schützen, und ihrem Krieger und Freund Darius – er ist einfach grandios: 🙂 Noch dazu bin ich sehr gespannt wie sich die Sache zwischen Stevie Rae und Rephaim entwickeln wird und fand diese Wendung mit dem Rabenspötter sehr interessant und hat der Story noch eine gewisse Würze gegeben. Ich denke, diese ‚Beziehung‘ der Beiden wird für die kommenden Bücher noch eine wichtige, entscheidende Rolle spielen – ich habe da so ein Gefühl im Bauch. Was mir außerdem gefallen hat war die Reise nach Italien, obwohl dies ein wenig zu sehr an Twilight erinnert hat, und dass die Lehrer Lenobia und Dragon weiterhin hinter Zoey und ihren Freunden stehen, und sie sogar als ihre neue Hohepriesterin ansehen – das wird auf alle Fälle noch spannend und interessant werden. Und nun zum traurigen Teil: Ich bin ja ein Fan von Heath und ich war deshalb sehr erschüttert darüber, was am Ende des Buches passiert ist. Ich hätte es nicht für möglich gehalten, weil das Buch bisher ziemlich oberflächlich war, aber es hat mich nun doch berührt und ich bin sehr gespannt was im nächsten Teil passieren wird und ob es nicht doch noch eine Lösung für Heath und Zoey gibt.

Cover:
Das Bild war nicht schlecht, aber auch nicht sonderlich gut. Zu gewöhnlich und ich hätte mir für die Geschichte etwas ‚atemberaubenderes‘ gewünscht.

Fazit:
Die Story, die Handlung, die Charaktere und sogar der Schreibstil haben sich verändert, wurden interessanter und haben ein neues Niveau erreicht, dass sie hoffentlich zukünftig halten werden.

Synopsis:
After Zoey and her friends have chased away Kalona and Neferet from Tulsa with their power of the circle, the young vampires decide, after a short stay within the Benedictine abbey with the nuns, to go back to the House of Night. There they have to deal with the fire burial of their teacher Anastasia and also with the other students and teachers, which are still affected with the might of Kalona. Therefore they have to find a way to beat Kalona and for this they have to fly to Italy and fight against him… but there everything changes…

My thoughts about the book:
The writing style of P.C. and Kristin Cast changed in this book from the first page on. I don’t know why (I got the feeling they got a co-writer or a big help from someone who know how to write a book) but the most of the annoying youngish/ childish writing is away, though it still sounds fresh and is even better to read now. I like the change and I hope this will continue through the next books.
About the story itself: It begins exactly where the former book ends and so the reader is instantly in the story. Though the happenings of all the former books are explained again (but this time not so long like in the other books) the story becomes interesting very fast, the thrilling and suspense is highly build and the characters develop greatly. I’m happy that Zoey has definitely changed now for the good. Not that I’m a fan of her, but I now can stand her more and she isn’t such annoying like in the other books. Mostly because she finally got the guts to break up with Eric and start to concentrate on her job as a high priest. Though she still has something going on with Stark and as well with Heath, it is okay and both boys are going along. To be honest, I also like both of them. Heath the good guy, who’s good at heart and always thinks positive and make you feel happy or smiling, and also Stark with his inner battle between the good and the evil, but who’s always make the better and grown up decisions and who sometimes try to be a ‘bad-boy’, but isn’t. And I also like Aphrodite and his Darius and I find it interesting how it turned out between Rephaim and Stevie Rae. Though I didn’t like it that she was lying to Zoey and her friends, but if she hadn’t the story wouldn’t went this way and I’m sure the relation between Rephaim and Stevie Rae will be important in the coming books. What I found very interesting was the twist in the story about the trip to Italy and how it turned out in the end with Heath and Zoey. I even cried (just short but still) at the end, a thing I wouldn’t believe I would do in this series (because so far it was kind of too superficial) and I couldn’t really believe what I just read… and I really hope in the next book there will be a solution for ‘this problem’. But through this book the story and the characters become better and better and now I start to become a ‘little Fan’ of it… so I hope the best for the next books and that they can continue with the new and better level.

This pictures isn’t bad, and still not very good. Sorry, but it’s a little too average and I would have loved to look at something more stunning.

All in all:
The story, the plot and the characters, even the writing style changed to something more interesting and better and the level was definitely raised, in comparison to the other books in this series.

Inhaltsangabe:
Zoey und ihre Freunde haben es gemeinsam mit den roten Jungvampiren und Aphrodite, sowie Darius geschafft aus dem House of Night, sowie von Kalona und Neferet, zu fliehen. Zusammen finden sie in den Tunnel unter dem Bahnhof, in denen bereits Stevie Rae mit ihren roten Jungvampiren lebt, Zuflucht. Unter der Erde fühlen sie sich sicher und versuchen sich gegenseitig zu vertrauen (speziell den roten Jungvampiren) und beginnen dort einen Plan gegen Kalona und Neferet zu schmieden. Wieder einmal überkommt Zoey ein schlechtes Gefühl, was nicht nur an ihren bizarren Traum von Kalona liegt, in dem er sie als seine alte, verlorene Liebe Aya bezeichnet. Und dann passiert das Unfassbare und Zoey wird von einem Rabenspötter attackiert und kämpft mit dem Tod…

Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Die Handlung war diese mal gar nicht mal so schlecht und in gewissen Passagen ist es wirklich interessant und spannend geworden, mit netten Wendungen und mit mehr Intensität im Inhalt. Obwohl der Schreibstil immer noch nicht besser geworden ist und noch immer etwas nervt und Zoey sich noch immer nicht sehr geändert hat, was bedeutet, dass sie noch immer rücksichtlos, verlogen und untreu ist. Ich habe wirklich geglaubt, dass sie sich im vorigen Buch geändert hat, weil sie sich reumütig und geläutert verhalten hat, aber sobald wieder ein Typ in ihre Nähe kamen, hat sich wieder automatisch ihr Hirn abgeschaltet (wie ein Schalter wird ihr Hirn an- und ab geschalten). Ich dachte sie wäre nun eine ‚bessere‘ Person mit ein wenig mehr Anstand, aber nein – das war nur eine Illusion und nun sind wir zurück beim Stadium von Buch zwei – was bedeutet, dass Zoey nun wieder geprägt ist mit Heath (schon wieder), sie eine Beziehung mit Erik hat, obwohl sie ihn gar nicht richtig liebt, sondern nur ‚mag‘ (schon wieder) und dann hat sie auch wieder was mit einem dritten Typen laufen (wieder)… Tut mir leid, aber WTF? Wie blöd kann eine Person eigentlich sein? Okay, ich habe das zwar schon mal gesagt, aber das ist doch einfach nur mehr verrückt, wie dumm und egoistisch Zoey sich verhält… und dass sie dann ständig nur mehr an den einen Typen denken kann, der gerade neben ihr steht… sobald der weg ist, steht der nächste bei ihr und es gibt nur mehr Zoey und den Trottel, der gerade bei ihr ist… (was für ein Glück für Damien, dass er homosexuell ist, sonst hätte Zoey sich da auch noch ran gemacht *pf*).
Meine Güte, ich weiß nicht warum die Autoren sich so dermaßen auf die ganze Liebesproblematik von Zoey konzentrieren und sie einen Blödsinn nach dem anderen machen lassen, wieder und wieder. Die Tatsache ist, dass Zoey wirklich sexuelle und persönliche Probleme hat und das zerstört für mich wirklich einen massiven Teil des Buches (und ich denke auch für andere). Das Schlimme daran ist, dass die Handlung ansonsten wirklich gut wäre, wenn es nur nicht diesen Hauptcharakter namens Zoey gäbe. Ist zwar jetzt gemein, aber könnten die sie nicht sterben lassen und jemand anderen den großen Part spielen lassen? Ich halte sie einfach nicht mehr viel länger aus und ich habe wirklich Angst, dass sie nicht wirklich besser wird in den nächsten (mindestens 2 kommenden Büchern)…
Also wie gesagt, neben der herum ‚Macherei‘ von Zoey, hat das Buch wirklich Potential und gute Wendungen integriert mit einfallsreichen und spannenden Plot. Besonders mochte ich die neue Einbindung der anderen Lehrer wie Lenobia oder Dragon, als sie zusammen mit ihnen für das Gute gekämpft haben, sowie die Verbindung zu den Nonnen und dem Kloster. Und zu meiner Begeisterung, gibt es endlich einen Typen, der mir gefällt und bei dem Zoey nicht so nervig ist wie sonst – und zwar Stark. Mag ihn einfach und das könnte vielleicht daran liegen, dass ich gerne mal den ‚Bad- Boys‘ in Büchern verfalle. 🙂

Fazit:
Meine Hoffnung ist zwar stark, aber es gibt Momente wo meine Hoffnung etwas wackelt… und ich weiß nicht wie lange ich diese Hoffnung noch aufrecht erhalten kann, das diese buchserie, bzw. besonders der Hauptcharakter noch besser wird… (Meine Hoffnungen sind bei Aphrodite, Darius und Stark 🙂 )

Synopsis:
Zoey and her friends as well as the red young vampires made it and could escape from the House of Night, like also from Neferet and Kalona. They find their asylum in the tunnels under the old train station, where the red young vampires and Stevie Rae live. Under the earth they feel save from Kalona and are busy with trying to trust each other (especially the red young vampires) and making plans against Neferet. But Zoey has a bad feeling again, mostly because of a weird dream she had about Kalona and which revealed that maybe she was his old love ‘Aya’. And then the unbelievable happens and Zoey gets attacked and is near to death…

My thoughts about the book:
The plot wasn’t so bad and it was sometimes thrilling and it has nice twists in it to gain more suspense. But the writing was still worse and annoying and Zoey is herself again, which means she is reckless, foolish, lying and unfaithful. I thought she has changed in book for to a better person but that was just an illusion and now we are back at book two – which means Zoey is imprinted with Heath (again), has a relationship with Eric, who she doesn’t really love (again) and is thinking about and is kissing a third guy (again)… Sorry, but WTF?? How stupid can one person be? OK, I’ve already said that, but it’s just hilarious how stupid and selfish Zoey is… and that she is always only thinking about the boy she is with right now and she cares for nobody else but him.. and this is the same with every guy she meets…(what a luck for Damien he’s guy, otherwise Zoey has tried with him as well).
My god, I don’t know why the authors focus soo much on the love problems of Zoey and why they let her do her stupid mistakes again and again. This fact with Zoey’s sex and personal problems really destroy a big part of the book for me (and I guess also for others). The plot would be good, if there wasn’t a main character called Zoey. Couldn’t they let her die or let someone else play the big part? God, I can’t stand her any longer and I’m scared she won’t be any better in the (at least) next two upcoming books.
But the positive thing about this book is that the story, beside the love part, got more interesting and thrilling. I like the twists in it and how it all turns out and that some teachers like Lenobia or Dragon are fighting together with them for the good in the world. And I also have to say that I really like Stark. I don’t know why, because Zoey is such annoying, but with him it’s better. He’s a great bad boy and I hope I’ll read more about him.

My hope is strong but at the moment my hope is really shaking… and I don’t know for how long my hopes are with this series to get any better…(the hopes are with Aphrodite,Darius and Stark 🙂 )

Inhaltsangabe:
Durch ihre Geheimnistuerei und ihre Lügen haben sich alle ihre Freunde und ihre festen Freunde von ihr abgewendet und Zoey steht vollkommen alleine da. Nur Aphrodite steht ihr nach 2 Tagen Abwesenheit wieder zur Seite, aber nur dem Grund, dass sie in einer Vision gesehen hat, dass Zoey sterben wird und wenn das passiert, ein Krieg zwischen Menschen und Vampiren ausspricht, der die ganze Welt zerstört. Nach anfänglichen Raufereien und Entschuldigungs-Bekundungen verzeihen schließlich doch Damien und die Zwillinge Zoey und auch Stevie Rae ist wieder fast die alte und kein mordlüsternes Monster mehr. Alles scheint sich wieder zum guten zu wenden und mit vereinten Kräften glaubt Zoey eine Lösung für all ihre Probleme zu finden, besonders als die Hohepriesterin alle Hohepriesterinnen, somit von allen Vampiren auf der Welt, Shekinah, nach den Morden an den zwei Vampiren im House of Night auftaucht. Doch als dann auch noch ein neuer Schüler, James Stark, im House of Night auftaucht, geschieht bald darauf eine neue Tragödie im Internat der Jungvampire…

Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Schreibstil wie eh und je bei den beiden Autoren, die auf biegen und brechen alles versuchen um jung und frisch zu klingen, dadurch aber oft ein wenig billig wirken und die Leser ab 15 dazu veranlassen, bei manchen Passagen nur den Kopf schütteln zu lassen. Zur Geschichte selber: Wie auch in den Vorgängern kommt alles ziemlich langsam in die Gänge und zum Ende hin folgt alles viel zu schnell. Wobei in diesem Buch meines Erachtens mehr passiert und auf alle Fälle dieses Mal auch mehr die anderen Vampire eine tragende Rolle spielen und teil von der Geschichte werden, wo nicht mehr nur Zoey und ihren Liebesproblemen behandelt werden. Auch versuchen die Autoren in diesem Teil zu erklären warum sich Zoey in den Vorgängern so verhalten hat bzw. ihre Lügen und Untreue zu rechtfertigen, Zoey sühnen zu lassen und zu zeigen, dass sie ihre Fehler einsieht und daraus gelernt hat. Schlecht nur an der ganzen „wir versöhnen uns alle wieder“ – Sache ist, dass Zoey sich wieder einmal nicht im klaren über ihre eigenen Gefühle ist und wie sie zu den verschieden Typen steht. Etwas was mich persönlich schon tierisch nervt. Besonders weil sie in einem Moment den Männer ‚abschwört’ und sich reumütig ihre Fehler eingesteht und im nächsten gleich wieder mit 2 Typen gleichzeitig ‚anbandelt’. Das alles ist widersprüchlich und ergibt für mich wenig Sinn und ich habe absolut keine Ahnung, was die Absicht der Autoren ist, ihre ‚Heldin’ so da stehen zu lassen und willensschwach zu präsentieren. Egal – dieses Thema habe ich bereits in den anderen Büchern zu genüge kritisiert.
Zu den anderen Freunden/ Vampiren muss sich sagen, dass ich froh bin wieder mehr von ihnen zu lesen und dass das Verstecksspiel endlich ein Ende hat. Die Wendung mit diesen ‚bösen Engel’ ist zwar nicht neu, bringt aber mehr Spannung und Abwechslung in die Story. Das einzige was mich dabei stört ist, dass vieles zu vorhersehbar ist und diese ‚kniffligen’ Reime oft gar nicht so schwierig sind und daher bekam ich beim lesen oft das Gefühl, dass ich die Protagonisten gerne einmal durch schütteln wollte und ihnen die Lösung einflüstern, anstatt ewig lang auf ihre eigene Auflösung zu warten *gähn*.
Außerdem konnte man in diesem Buch feststellen, dass die Autoren versuchen nun auch ernstere Themen zur Sprache zu bringen, abseits der albernen Kindereien und Eifersuchtsdramen der Teenagers, und sprechen vorschnelle Vorurteile, sowie religiöse Glaubenskonflikte an. Aber für mein Gefühl war es nur ein halbherziger Versuch, um auch etwas ‚Wichtiges/ Ernsteres“ in das buch zu integrieren, was aber nur sehr oberflächlich, wenn nicht sogar naiv abgehandelt wird. Weiters bin ich froh, dass ich bereits alle Bücher als ebook auf meinen PC habe um sie in einem durch zu lesen kann, nicht weil sie so toll sind, sondern weil das Buch immer mitten im spannendsten Teil, mitten in der Handlung endet und ich wahrscheinlich nicht den Nerv hätte weiterzulesen, wenn ich ein halbes Jahr auf das nächste Buch warten müsste. Positives zu den Charakteren: Ich mag den neuen Jungvampir, der ins House of Night gekommen ist, dieser Stark – er hat was und ich hoffe es kommt noch mehr von ihm. Und Duchesss ist sowieso – besonders weil ich ein Hundefan bin.

Bild finde ich sehr gelungen und besonders sprechen mich die Tattoos am Rücken an, weil ich sowieso neugierig war, wie diese ca. aussehen.

Fazit:
Netter Versuch, aber leider noch immer nicht ganz das ‚Gelbe vom Ei‘. Ich hoffe weiterhin auf eine Steigerung und werde trotz kleiner Ungereimtheiten die Serie weiterlesen.

Synopsis:
Because of her lying and secretiveness Zoey is totally alone and all of her friends have turned away from her. Aphrodite is the only one she which stands beside her, after her short absence, because she has got 2 visions in which Zoey will die, if nobody is helping her and after that there will be a terrible war between the humans and vampire, which will destroy the whole world. After her friends have forgiven Zoey and Stevie Ray is almost her old self again, everything appears to turn to good account, and Zoey believes to solve all her problems, especially when the world highest high priest of all vampires, Shekinah, arrives at the House of Night, after the brutal murder of two teachers. But after the young vampire James Stark also comes to the House of Night, everything shakes again and shortly after a new tragedy happens…

My thoughts about the book:
The writing style is the same like in the books before, where the authors tries everything to sound fresh and young, but where it is just too much for readers above a age of 15.
About the story: Like in the other books the beginning is boring and everything is explained again (the fourth time now), also the plot takes long to gain any suspense and only about in the middle it become interesting again… but till to the end everything happens to fast and the story ends exactly in the middle of all, in the middle of the most thrilling part – so I don’t like that.. and I’m happy to have all books on my PC, because I’m sure I won’t have the nerve to read the books further, if I would have to wait half a year for the next one. Although in this book happens more along the story and the focus is again on the main plot and not on the love triangle of Zoey. She even is trying to make her wrongs good again and she wants to learn from her mistakes, she made. The only problem is, that Zoey is still not about her own feelings, and about her decisions about her boy-problems,… which becomes boring at this state of the book series. It is just frustrating and contradictory that in one moment Zoey is swearing off all boys and in the next she flirting with two boys again *puke*. I don’t like that in any point and I totally don’t understand why the authors let her ‘heroic’ present this weak and annoying. Whatever – I’ve criticized that part (Zoey) already enough in my other reviews.
About the good things: I like Stark and I really hope that he will show more about himself in the upcoming books. And I really adore his dog Duchess – mainly because I’m a dog fan! 🙂
And I’m happy that finally Zoey has told all her friends everything and that the secretive has an end. The twist in the story about the ‘bad angel’ isn’t new and not very fresh, but it get some new pep in the plot and the vampires have something to fight against together, which will drew them even more together. Although the solving of the phrases and what it all means wasn’t sooo hard like the presented it in the book and I sometimes got the wish to jump into and shake the figures and tell them the answers – so this part was kind of boring and long lasting with all their long discussions and ‘what does it all mean’ and ‘I don’t know’ and so on and ‘blah blah’…
What was also new in this book was that the authors tried to integrate new and more important topics, like rash prejudice or religious conflicts. But I got the feeling the try was just half hearted only to make a good point, but it was just treated superficial and maybe even naive.

Cover:
I like the pictures and especially the back with the tattoo, because I was always curious how they look like.

All in all:
Nice try to gain some respect and fans again but it was still not quite the right thing. I hope there will be a progression in the next book and thought there were some inconsistence, I keep reading this series.
