P.C. and Kristin Cast

House of Night # 2

One month after Halloween, where Zoey has saved her Ex-boyfriend Heath from the vampire ghosts and she has become the leader of the dark sisters, mysterious things are happening in the House of Night and in the neighboring. On the one hand Zoey witness the weird ghost of Elliot, who is sucking blood from the arm of Zoey’s mentor and high priest Neferet und on the other hand two boys from Zoey’s previous school disappear and can only be found dead nearby the House of Night. But after a while also Heath disappears, who Zoey is meeting and shares some feelings for him again, and also amongst her best friends in the House of Night a tragedy happens, which threat to break Zoey’s will and heart…

My thoughts about the book:
Like in the first book of this new series Kristin und P.C. Cast try to sound fresh und young, with various phrases and the way of telling their story. For me it’s not so bad, because it has some liveliness in it, but thereby the reader notices the target audience the preferred reader’s age of this new book series. For me I sometimes got the feeling it’s too fresh – if to say so. I just could roll me eyes or smile at some phrases, but it was okay and easy and nice to read.
About the story itself: In this book there was more thrilling and more spooking than in the first book. And we got to know the characters better and we also learnt their background story, which was interesting to get to know. What I really liked in this book that there was more passion, more Heath when he was not drunken and sweet, more Aphrodite when she was kind and not so annoying (I guess she’ll have a big role in the future on the good side). And it was also great that there was more action in the story, so it got much more interesting, besides all this boring vampire school routine with their jealousy and fighting…
Furthermore I liked the development of this spooky, weird creatures, because it makes it much more thrilling and exciting and I’m sure there will be more to come of them –also the alliance to Neferet is interesting and will be explosive in the next books.
What I didn’t like was that Zoey had so many different guys, which she met although she always said, she isn’t a girl like that (roll one’s eyes). Besides I couldn’t understand why Zoey didn’t tell anyone about her encounters, so she would get help and wouldn’t have to face all alone, especially because in my opinion Zoey isn’t very strong and confident… so for me it makes not much sense. But will see how it turns out in the future….

Nice Cover with a great picture on it, which made me curious of the story and which I liked.

All in all:
It all becomes more thrilling and spookier, which raise the excitement and enjoyment while reading it. So keep reading this book, even though you didn’t like the first one so much.
