Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Gleich vorab möchte ich hier erwähnen, dass ich ‚Beautiful Disaster‘ geliebt habe und das Buch fast die gesamte Punkteanzahl bekommen hat. Der Grund warum es bei Teil 1 nur vier Punkte, anstatt der gesamten fünf wurden, war ganz klar -> Abby.

Und das ist auch der Hauptgrund, warum dieser Teil nur 3 Punkte bekommen hat. Abby kommt hier nämlich noch schlechter weg als im ersten Teil, jetzt wo wir Travis Sichtweise erfahren. Nicht nur, dass ich nicht verstehen kann, warum er sich so derart in sie verguckt, verhält sie sich aus seiner Sicht aus wirklich sehr gemein und zickig, besonders in den Phasen in den sie Probleme haben oder wieder auseinander brechen. Und die Zeiten, die eigentlich schön wären und die guten Aspekte aus Band eins waren, kamen hier nur kurz vor, beziehungsweise wurden diese eher ausgelassen, weil sie ja in Band eins schon zu lesen waren.

Daher war in diesem Buch viel weniger Zeit mit dem beiden Figuren gemeinsam, sondern viel mehr die Zeit beschrieben, als Travis alleine war, was er zwischen den Zeiten getan hat, als er nicht bei ihr war oder wie er gelitten hat, als sie ihn zweimal oder öfter stehen lassen hat.
Dadurch war es auch keine lineare, gleichmäßige Erzählung, sondern es wirkte bruchstückhaft und holprig, da die guten Szenen nicht mehr beschrieben wurden. Oft gab es dadurch Sprünge in der Zeit von einem Geschehnis zum nächsten und es war alles sehr abgehackt.

Auch fehlten mir die schönen Emotionen und die großen GUTEN Gefühle beim Lesen. Oft war ich nur traurig und habe mit Travis mitgelitten und hätte Abby strangulieren können, anstatt mich nach ihr zu verzerren.

Das einzig Gute an dem Buch war, dass es danach noch etwas länger weiterging und es nicht mit der Hochzeit geendet hat. Hier fand ich den Epilog gelungen, obwohl ich weiß, dass dieser für einige wohl zu kitschig werden könnte. Aber für die Strapazen und das ständige Leiden im Buch, war der Kitsch am Ende, genau das was ich gebraucht habe, um das Buch versöhnlich zu schließen.

Aber für einen richtigen Fan ist es natürlich trotzdem irgendwie ein Muss, auch wenn nicht viel Neues geboten wird … wer Travis liebt, der liest. 😉

Cover:
Ich finde das Cover mit dem Bizeps ganz gut, aber es würde mir noch besser gefallen, wenn die Proportionen passen würden. ^^Dafür ist das zweite Cover gut gemacht und passt von der Aufmachung her auch besser zu Teil eins.

All in all:
Obwohl ich große Probleme mit dem Buch, hier vor allem mit der Handlung hatte, die sehr zerrissen und holprig aufgebaut war, gebe ich trotzdem noch 3 Punkte, weil ich Travis verfallen bin und er mein Held ist, der sein Happy-End schwer verdient hat. Abby kann mir gestohlen bleiben, aber solange er glücklich ist, nehme ich auch sie in Kauf. 😉

My thoughts about the book:
Immediately at the begin I would like to mention that I loved/ adored ‚Beautiful Disaster‘ and the book has got almost the whole rating numbers. The only reason why the first part got only four points, instead of the whole five, was quite easy to say -> Abby.

And this is also the main reason why this book has also gotten only 3 points. Abby was here even worse, now when we see everything out of Travis’ point of view. Not only, that I can’t understand why he falls so hard for Abby, from his POV she also behaves really very mean and bitchy, particularly in the phases in which they have problems or break apart again. And the times/ parts, which would have been actually nice and were the good aspects from book one were supposed to be, they were describe only briefly/ short, or were rather let out completely because they were already to be read in first book.

Hence in there were much less time with both figures together this book, but it was mostly the time described when Travis was alone, what he did between the times when he wasn’t with her or how he has suffered when she dumped him twice or left him alone.
Thereby it was also not a linear, steady story, but it looked fragmentary and bumpy, because the good scenes weren’t described. Thus there were often jumps in the time of an event to the next and it made everything very choppy.

Also I missed the great emotions and the big GOOD feelings while reading. Often I was only sad and have suffered with Travis and could have strangled Abby, instead of drool over Abby and miss her constantly.

The only good thing in the book was that it went on a little further and didn’t ended right after the wedding. Here I found the epilogue good, although I know that this could be too much and too kitschy for some readers. But after the exertion and the constant suffering in the book, the big kitsch at the end, was exactly what I’ve needed to close the book happy.

But nevertheless, for a real fan it’s of course a must to read it, even if it didn’t offered a lot new … – who loves Travis, will read it. 🙂

Cover:
I find the cover with the biceps quite good, but I would like it even better if the proportions would fit. ^^ Therefore the second cover is made well and fits also better to the cover of part one.

All in all:
Although I had big problems with this book, here above especially with the plot which was torn and was built up rugged, I nonetheless give another 3 points, because I completely fell for Travis and he’s my kinky hero, who has hard earned his happy end. But Abby – I couldn’t care less about her, but as long as Travis is happy, I’ll go along with her. 😉

Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Wie kann man Teile eines Buchs lieben und andere dafür nicht verstehen oder dabei frustriert den Kopf schütteln? Hier bei diesem Buch funktioniert das eigentlich ganz gut, was wohl auch daran liegt, dass es relativ dick ist und die Geschichte sich manchmal im Kreis dreht.

Aber fangen wir am besten ganz von vorne an. Zu Beginn habe ich gedacht, es handle sich um eine Fight Club – Buchversion für jugendliche, als Abby auf Travis trifft, der bei einem Underground Kampf teilnimmt; und meine Motivation war daher etwas gering. Doch schon nach ein oder zwei Kapiteln war ich derart in die Geschichte und die Charaktere verstrickt, dass ich nicht mehr aufhören konnte zu lesen, und wenn ich nicht gelesen habe, musste ich darüber nachdenken oder träumte davon.

Es hat mich nach der  Fight Club – Verwechslung, dann eine Spur an ‚The Perfect Chemistry‘ erinnert, aber hier nicht als YA Buch, sondern für Erwachsene bzw. ältere Jugendlich (ca. ab 17/18 Jahre), in dem Sex zwar vorkommt und auch teilweise geschildert wird, aber nicht so detailiert, dass man es nur als Erwachsenenbuch einteilen könnte. Es bleibt also im Rahmen. Und obwohl es ein New Adult Buch ist, mit Protagonisten um die 18/19 Jahren, ist der Schreibstil sehr einfach gewählt und daher ist auch das Buch sehr flüssig und rasch zu lesen, was ich als angenehm empfand.

Was mich aber so an ‚Perfect Chemistry‘ erinnert hat, war dieser bad-guy Typus und die Verwicklung mit dem ‚Mädchen von nebenan‘. Auch hier waren total viele Klischees und Sachen enthalten, die mich normalerweise zum Kopfschütteln bringen, mich stören – doch hier war es fast überhaupt nicht der Fall. Es war eine wirklich nette, süße Geschichte, die einem gefangen hält und in der man von der ersten bis zur letzten Seite, den zwei Protagonisten nur das Beste wünscht und mit ihnen hofft.
Natürlich ist die Geschichte nicht ideal, wie zb. das ständig einige Studenten darin rauchen oder Frauen teilweise klischeehaft abgestempelte werden, wenn sie mit Jungs ins Bett springen, während die Männer nicht dergleichen betitelt werden, sondern als bewunderte ‚Frauenhelden‘ gelten.

Das gleiche gilt auch für die Charaktere. Ich mag Travis wirklich gerne und er hat das gewisse ‚etwas‘, das einem nicht mehr loslässt und dass man ihm einfach sein Glück wünscht. Aber er könnte auf alle Fälle ein Training gegen seine Aggressionen und sein ständigen Launen brauchen – in der Geschichte wirkt er teilweise schon wie jemand, der eine manisch-depressive Erkrankung hat (übertrieben formuliert, aber trotzdem ^^).
Aber egal – Ich liebe Travis einfach! *hach* Er war wie gesagt zwar anfänglich noch der Bad-boy, hatte ein aggressivitäts- wie auch Machoproblem, aber für Abby hat er eine 180°-Wendung hingelegt und war dann einfach nur mehr ein Traum. Sicher, etwas launenhaft und eifersüchtig, aber wollen wir nicht auch manchmal einen Mann für den wir alles auf der Welt bedeuten?

Und auch die perfekte Abby hat ihre negativen Seiten, dass sie zb. lieber vor Problemen und zu großen Gefühlen davon läuft, anstatt sich ihrer zu stellen oder sich damit ihr selber, Travis und dem Leser immer wieder das Herz bricht. Sie ging mir leider die meiste Zeit auf die Nerven und hat aus allem unnötig ein Drama gemacht und was sie gegen Ende Travis angetan hat, dafür hätte ich sie erwürgen können. Sie ist auch der Grund warum das Buch nicht die volle Punkteanzahl bekommen hat, denn ansonsten hat es mir sehr gut gefallen.

Aber irgendwie denke ich, dass genau dieser Mix aus ‚nicht perfekt sein‘ den Reiz in diesem Buch ausmacht, dass man nie weiß was als nächstes passiert und ob sie nun ihr Happy-End bekommen oder nicht.

Dieses Buch ist zwar spannend und intensiv erzählt, aber nicht hauptsächlich durch actionreiche Handlungen, sondern durch die impulsiven Charaktere und deren Zusammenspiel, deren Chemie. Es ist teilweise wie ein Karussell, ein ständiges up- und down der Gefühle und ein Trip, der von ‚Himmelhoch jauchzend‘ zu endlos deprimiert führt und wieder zurück.
Wer sich auf diese Hochschaubahn einlassen will und kann, hat hier – neben einigen Tränen – auch wunderschöne Seiten und Erlebnisse in Aussicht, mit dramatischen Gefühlen und Emotionen, die zu begeistern wissen.

Noch kurz zu einem Punkt, den ich auch bekritteln möchte: Es war im Mittelteil etwas zäher, und dort kam der Punkt an dem man sich gefragt hat, was denn jetzt noch kommen soll. Aber die Autorin hat sich nochmal etwas ausgedacht, um noch mehr Qualen und Schmerz hinein zu bringen, dass zwar einige vielleicht spannend fanden, auf mich aber etwas zu gekünstelt wirkte. Für mich hätte das Buch dieses ‚Problem‘ nicht mehr gebraucht und hätte auch etwas kürzer sein können und ich wäre noch immer glücklich damit gewesen.

Dafür war aber das Ende nach meinem Geschmack und ich kann mit Freude sagen, dass ich es nicht bereut habe dieses Buch gelesen zu haben. Es war eine emotionale Achterbahnfahrt, die ich jederzeit wieder machen würde.

Ich liebe das Cover und das war damals auch der Grund, warum ich es lesen wollte – einmal ein Coverkauf, der mich nicht enttäuscht, sondern positiv überrascht hat!

All in all:
Ich denke ich habe ein neues Genre für mich entdeckt. Früher wollte ich immer nur Bücher mit Phantasie-Elementen lesen, aber die letzten Bücher im Genre Contemporary Romance haben mich durchwegs überzeugt. Besonders toll ist es dann auch noch, wenn es zusätzlich New Adult ist – also mit älteren Protagonisten wie hier. Liebe diese Geschichten und werde weiterhin einige davon lesen. War ein tolles Buch und empfehle es gerne weiter! 🙂

‚Beautiful Disaster‘

My opinion:
How can one love parts of a book and doesn’t understand some other parts of it or shakes the head frustrated in disbelieve? Here with this book it actually functions quite well, what is also probably due to the fact that it is relatively thick and sometimes the story goes in circles.

But back to the beginning, where honestly at first I’ve thought this story is a YA book version of the movie ‘Fight Club’, when Abby and Travis meet each other at this underground fight and hence my motivation was low. But already after one or two chapters I was totally involved in this story and the characters that I couldn’t stop to read any more, and if I’ve not read, then I thought all the time of them or dreamt about it.

After the false ‘Fight Club’ mistake, the story reminded me a little of the book ‘The Perfect Chemistry’ by Elkeles, but here it’s not a YA book, but for adults or older teenagers (approx. up from 17 years), because there’s sex in the book, but not described very detailed, so that I couldn’t only clarify it as an adult’s book – so you see, the erotic scenes remains within the scope. Moreover there were integrated really sweet elements, as for example the nickname ‘Pidge’ (from Pidgeon), which the Travis has chosen for Abby as a cute nickname.

What has reminded me so much of ‘Perfect Chemistry’ was this bad-guy type and his involvement with the ‘girl-next door’. Also here were included many stereotypes and things which usually disturb me or let my head shake, but here it wasn’t the case at all. It was a really nice, sweet story, which holds me prisoner and in which I could only wish the two protagonists best luck from the first up to the last page, and I hoped for them.

Of course the story isn’t perfect, for example the fact that some students in it were constantly smoking or that women partly got stereotypically stamped if they jump into bed with different guys, while the men aren’t got entitled as such, but were admired as ‚lady-killers’.

The same thing is also for the characters. I really like Travis and he has the certain something, which doesn’t let me go anymore and that I simply hoped for him. But he really could use a certain training against his aggressions and his constant mood changes – in the story he even appears sometimes like somebody that has a manic-depressive illness (described exaggerated, but still ^^).
And also the perfect Abby has her negative sides, for example that she runs away from problems and to big emotions, instead of rather to confront it and with that she could have made it easier for herself and also for Travis and the reader, instead of breaking everyone’s heart over and over again – even mine.
But in some way I think that exactly this mix of ‘not being perfect’ is the real charm in this book, that one never knows what will happen next and whether they get their happy end or not.

Though this book is exciting and intensely told, but not primarily rich with actions, but by the impulsive characters and their interaction, their chemistry. It is partially like a carousel, a constant up and down of emotions and a trip which goes from ‘sky-high jubilating’ to ‘endlessly depressed’ and back again.

Who is able to want to get into this rollercoaster, has here – besides some tears – also wonderful pages and experiences in view, with dramatic feelings and emotions, which know how to inspire.

But now shortly to a point, which I would also like to criticize: It was a little toughening in the middle part, and there came the point where I asked myself what there’s still to come. But the author has once again thought up something to bring in even more tortures and pain, which though some readers may find more exciting, but for me it was a little bit too unnatural. I think the book wouldn’t have needed this ‘problem’ anymore and therefore it could also have been a little shorter and I still would have been happy with it.

In favor the end was totally my taste and I can say with joy that I’ve not regretted to read this fabulous book. It was an emotional rollercoaster, a lovely journey, which I would make again any time.
