Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Ich war wirklich überrascht und sehr begeistert vom ersten Teil dieser Reihe und dementsprechend hoch waren auch meine Erwartungen an dieses Buch hier. Besonders da es nun um Beth ging, die mir zwar im ersten Teil noch etwas zu abweisend vorkam, aber dafür schon im ersten Teil kurz gezeigt hat, dass ihr Leben alles andere als perfekt ist und daher kann man ihr Verhaltung, ihre Abwehr gut nachvollziehen.

So wie auch hier im zweiten Teil, in dem man noch einen viel größeren und genaueren Blick auf Beth und ihr Leben bekommt. Besonders auf ihre Mutter und ihr Verhältnis zu ihr und auch auf ihre verkorkste Kindheit, die man nicht einmal seinem Feind wünschen würde. Daher kann man wie gesagt auch Beths Verschlossenheit nachvollziehen und ihre Handlungen, die bei jeder anderen zum Kopfschütteln geführt hätte. Sie läuft gerne weg und will vor Problemen die Augen verschließen, doch dann wird ihr Onkel Scott ihr Vormund, sie muss umziehen und lernt dort den Sportler und Good-Boy Ryan kennen.
Und ja, hier haben wir auch gleich unseren romantischen, männlichen Gegenpart des Buches gefunden.
Zuerst hatte ich meine Probleme mit Ryan, weil er anscheinend alles hat, was man sich wünschen kann und eher oberflächlich wirkte. Aber das hat sich zum Glück im Verlauf geändert und ein Teil lag wohl auch daran, dass er ein Baseball-Spieler ist und ich damit über nichts anfangen kann und ich Null Interesse an Baseball habe. Zum Glück wurde dieser Aspekt immer weniger. 😉

Ich finde ja das Ryan ganz okay war und ein netter Charakter, und auch Beth war dann etwas besser, aber sie sind nicht rann gekommen an Noah und Echo aus dem ersten Teil. Irgendwie hat mir hier leider generell dieser wow-Effekt gefehlt, wofür ich selber nicht ganz den Grund benennen kann.
Und andere mögen dass oft nicht, wenn man noch sieht, wie glücklich das Pärchen aus einem vorherigen Teil ist und sie herum turteln, aber ich fand es schön, dass auch Echo und Noah kurz – sehr kurz- vorkamen und sie noch immer glücklich sind. Finde sowas immer total schön und auch okay und nicht übertrieben, wenn es so wie hier im Rahmen bleibt und nur kurz was von ihnen gezeigt wird. 🙂

Was mich aber sehr gestört hat, war die Tatsache, dass es sich doch vieler Klischees bedient hat, vor allem was Beth, aus schlechtem Hause, und Ryan, aus einer vermeintlich intakten, reichen Familie, betrifft. Auch die Wette, weswegen er zuerst Beth angesprochen hat, war nicht nach meinem Geschmack. Es war nicht originell und war viel zu sehr von Perfect Chemistry#1 abgekupfert, auch wenn es hier etwas anders abgelaufen ist.

Es tut mir selber leid, aber bei mir blieb die große Begeisterung aus, weil nicht wirklich was Überraschendes oder Neues gekommen ist, irgendwie war es zu mau. Obwohl ich aber ihren Onkel Scott ganz toll fand, und schade, dass am Ende nicht noch mehr mit ihm, oder zusammen mit seiner Frau war. Oder auch nicht mehr Begebenheiten mit ihrer Freundin Lacy gekommen ist, welche ich auch sehr interessant fand.

Als nächsten kommt dann im Herbst/ Winter 2013 ‚Crash into You‘ welche Isaiahs Geschichte sein wird. Momentan freue ich mich nicht besonders darauf, weil mir Isaiah auch noch nicht so ans Herz gewachsen ist, aber ich werde es trotzdem lesen, weil ich die Reihe doch abschließen möchte.

Dieses Cover gefällt mir wie auch beim ersten Buch total gut und wie auch dort, passen die Personen gut zu den Beschreibungen im Buch (ist ja nicht immer der Fall ^^)

All in all:
Es war ein gutes Buch und alles in allem hatte ich auch meinen Spaß beim Lesen, aber trotzdem bin ich etwas enttäuscht, da dieser wow-Effekt ausblieb, den ich beim ersten Teil hatte.

My thoughts about the book:
I was really surprised and sooo hooked by the first book of this series and accordingly of this, my expectations for that book were also really high. Particularly because now it was about Beth, who though seemed to me in the first book a little bit unfriendly, but has already shown in the first part briefly, that her life isn’t anything but perfect and hence, I could understand her behavior and also her defense.

As well as also here in the second part, in which I still got a lot bigger and more exact look at Beth and her life – particularly on her mother and her relation to her, and also on her flubbed childhood, which I even wouldn’t wish my worst enemy. Therefore I can understand as already said, Beth’s reticence and her actions, which would have led to shaking my head with any other character. Beth often runs away and wants to close her eyes before problems, but then her uncle Scott gets custody for her, she has to live with him and his wife and there she gets to know the sportsman and god-boy Ryan. And, yes, here we also have found our romantic, male protagonist of the book.

First I had my problems with Ryan because he apparently has everything what one can wish for and looked rather superficial. But luckily this has changed during the book and a part for it, was probably also due to the fact that he’s a baseball player, a sports with which I have no interest in it at all. Luckily this aspect became less and less. 😉
I find Ryan was quite okay and a nice character, and then also Beth was a better, but they weren’t as awesome as the couple Noah and Echo from the first book. Unfortunately here I’ve missed this ‘wow-effect’, for which I can’t really find a reason.

Other readers often don’t like it, that in a further book you still see how happy the couple from a previous book is, when they whisper sweet nothings and kisses and so on, but I found that nice and I liked it, that Echo and Noah also showed-up it this book briefly – very briefly – and that they are still happy. I find something like that always absolutely sweet and also okay, if it’s not too much as it was here.

What has disturbed me very much was the fact that there were many clichés in the book, especially Beth, who comes from bad house, and Ryan, from a putatively intact, good and rich family. Also the bet, the reason because he has spoken at first to Beth, was not for my taste. It was not original and too similar to ‘Perfect Chemistry#1’ by Simone Elkeles, even if it has turn into a differently course.

I’m really sorry, but for me the big enthusiasm was missing, because there happened much surprising or special things in it, anyhow it was just too poor. Although I found her uncle Scott very great and it was a pity that at the end, there wasn’t more with him, or more together with him and his wife – or also that there weren’t any more occurrences with her friend Lacy, which I found also very interesting and I liked her at first sight.

At next the third book is coming out in autumn/ winter 2013‚ which will be called ‘Crash into You’, which will host the story of Isaiah. At the moment I’m not so glad about it, because right now I don’t really care much about Isaiah, but I will read it nevertheless, because I would like to conclude the whole series.

I like this cover as much as the first book and again, here are people on it, which fit well to the descriptions in the book (that’s not always the case ^^)

All in all:
It was a good book and all in all, I also had my fun while reading it, but nevertheless, I’m a little disappointed, because this great wow-effect was missing, which I had with the first part.

AAAh, endlich ist ‚Lover at Last‘ bei mir angekommen – worauf ich bereits seit Monaten warte – und ich muss sagen, es schaut soo schön aus und richt auch so gut. 🙂 Hach, ich bin ganz hin und weg. Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Holly crap- that book brought me to heaven, then hell and back again.
Aber nun einmal ganz langsam und starten wir von vorne. Geschildert wird die Geschichte in der Gegenwart – was ich bei englischen Büchern sehr gerne mag – und wechselt in der Ich-Perspektive zwischen den zwei Hauptfiguren Nastya und Josh. Etwas, das ebenfalls sehr gut zur Geschichte gepasst hat und einem das Gefühl gab, dass man in den Köpfen der Figuren ist und sie wirklich kennen lernen kann. Weiters finde ich auch Millays Schreibweise sehr passend und schön, obwohl sie ihre Charaktere auch laut fluchen lässt, wenn es passt – und das tut es. Es sind nun einmal Jugendliche und es wirkt echt und alles zusammen war es einfach toll zu lesen und hat mir großartig gefallen. Hach, ich wiederhole mich, aber ja, es war gut 😉

Dieses Buch ist zu Beginn ähnlich wie ‚Sprich‘ von Anderson, nur viel, viel besser – meiner Meinung nach. Und das Faszinierendste war für mich, dass sie es geschafft hat, dass ich in den ersten Kapiteln überhaupt nicht gemerkt habe, dass Nastya nicht spricht; kein einziges Wort. Aber sie kommuniziert mit dem Leser in einer Weise, dass dies komplett übersehen wird. Erst als explizit darauf hingewiesen wurde, habe ich es bemerkt und musste zurückblättern und Teile noch einmal lesen, um mich zu überzeugen, dass sie wirklich kein Wort gesprochen hat. Wirklich große Klasse und es zeigt die Schreibkunst von Millay. *brillant*

Nur zur Geschichte: Beide Charaktere, Nastya und Josh, haben massive Probleme mit sich und der Welt im Allgemeinen, resultierend aus Schicksalsschlägen, die ich nicht einmal meinem größten Feind wünschen würde.  Aber beide geben nicht auf, kämpfen weiter durch ihr Leben und irgendwann und irgendwie treffen diese zwei ‚beschädigten‘ Figuren aufeinander. Und beide wissen, dass der andere genauso gebrochen ist, wie sie selbst. Lange Story, kurzer Sinn – sie werden Freunde, lernen sich besser kennen und es passiert noch mehr zwischen ihnen, was ich jetzt nicht alles erzählen möchte. Nur so viel – dass ich die ganze Zeit mit meinem Herzen bei ihnen war und jede Seite um sie gezittert habe. Sie haben mich beide in ihren Bann gezogen, besonders Josh und er ist mein auch ‚book-boyfriend‘ des Monats!

Ihr könnt also sehen, nicht nur die Geschichte konnte mich fesseln und ihr Weg und deren Kampf aus ihrer persönlichen Hölle, nein – auch die Figuren selber. Nastya war mir nicht sofort sympathisch, ich musste sie erst kennenlernen, um mir ein Bild von ihr zu machen. Doch auch damit hatte ich meine Probleme, weil sie viel erzählt und nachdenkt, aber doch nur Bruchstücke von sich preisgibt und gemeinsam mit Josh, versucht man ihr Puzzle zusammen zu setzen und ihr Geheimnis zu entdecken.
Und Josh – ach ♥ Josh ♥ – er ist einfach soo toll und ich kann es nicht in Worte fassen, wie sehr ich mit ihm gelitten habe. Nicht nur wegen seiner Vergangenheit, sondern auch dazwischen, wenn er mit Nastya Probleme hatte. Neben meinem Liebling Josh, war ich aber auch ein Fan von Clay und Drew. Drew ist der Sunny-boy der Geschichte, der alles etwas leichter macht, und denn man erst etwas kennen lernen muss, um hinter seine selbstverliebte Fassade zu blicken. Für mich ist er wie ein Golden Retriever – man muss ihn einfach lieben. 😉
Und die Eltern, besonders die Mutter von Drew, sind auch total klasse und hier hat es mich amüsiert, auch vermehrt von den Nebencharaktere zu lesen.

Nun zu den Punkten, dir mir weniger gefallen haben, bzw. der Grund sind, warum ich keine 5 Sterne vergeben kann. Zu einem war es mir klar, warum Nastya so lange nicht spricht und es war okay für mich, aber nach dreiviertel des Buches, war es für mich immer unlogischer, warum sie mit anderen spricht, aber immer noch nicht mit ihren Eltern oder auch Josh nicht alles erzählt. Ich weiß, jeder verarbeitet Traumata anders, länger oder kürzer. Aber Josh seine Schicksalsschläge fand ich persönlich schlimmer und emotional schwerer zu ertragen, doch er hat sich ihr geöffnet, ihr vertraut, aber Nastya ließ ihn einfach in der Luft hängen, und es gab Zeiten, da wollte ich sie einfach nur erwürgen. Dann wollte ich sie wieder Umarmen, um ihr den Schmerz zu nehmen und es gab sogar einen Abschnitte, da wollte ich beides gleichzeitig.

Neben meinen Problemen mit Nastyas Verhalten, muss ich auch zugeben, dass es sich manchmal ein wenig gezogen hatte. Es war alles sehr lange und genau beschrieben und ging schleppend voran. Was mich nicht gestört hätte – denn ich mag es, wenn sich Beziehungen langsam entwickeln – ABER, hier waren dann die romantischen Szenen total kurz und nur so nebenbei geschrieben, ohne länger darauf einzugehen, was ich mir aber nach all den Strapazen total gewünscht und ich mir als Leser auch verdient hätte.
Hinzu kommt, dass manchmal mitten ein einer Szene, in denen sie etwas Wichtiges beredet haben, einfach das Kapitelende kam und die Szene aus war, und im nächsten Kapitel sind dann Sprünge von mehreren Stunden oder Tagen. Ohne genauer darauf einzugehen, was dann noch passiert ist, nachdem die Szene gewechselt wurde. Ah, ich glaube, das war der Punkt, der mich am meisten frustriert und gestört hat! Und dieser ist wohl auch für die Bewertung verantwortlich.  So, und das war jetzt eine meiner längsten Rezis! 😉

Total schönes Cover und ich muss nicht mehr sagen als, dass es hier ein ‚CoverKauf‘ war – ganz eindeutig. 😉

All in all:
Ich habe keine Worte für all die Gefühle, die dieses Buch in mir ausgelöst hat und ich weiß nicht, ob ich über die traurigen, depressiven Teile erfreut oder betrübt sein soll. Aber sie haben mich alle zusammen bewegt, wie auch alles andere in dieser Geschichte einem das Herz zerreißt und wieder zusammenfügt.
Nach dem Ende des Buches fühle ich mich wie nach einem langen Lauf, in denen es anstrengende und leichtere Teile gab und jetzt bin ich einfach nur erschöpft, aber auf gute Art. Es ist sogar so, dass ich jetzt ein- zwei Tage kein anderes Buch lesen werde… weil ich nicht anders kann. Ich brauche einfach eine Pause, um das alles sickern zu lassen. Weird – that’s a first.

My thoughts about the book:
Though I’ve already heard from others that this book should be good, I still started this book with care, because I often have a different opinion – particularly with YA books. And see there, my concerns were absolutely unnecessary, because I loved it! *sigh* It was really a nice, heart-touching YA love story, which though got also a few critic points from me, but only at vanities, which don’t really count.

In ‘Pushing the Limits’ there are two troubled-teenagers, who meet each other, when they have to go to the same psychological school counsellor. The fate or Miss Collins, the school counsellor, wants, that Echo helps her school-colleague Noah in his studies and to tutor him. At first everything starts with lot of arguments between these two, later happens a revelation, up to the time, when they both agree to work together to get Collins files about themselves. Because both believe, that they need their file to get some information to set their life right again.
I don’t want to spoil here anything, but I’ve felt so sorry for both of them and I’ve to confess, that I’ve also spend a lot of tears – particularly at the end. But not because it was so sad, but because I was so happy and relieved that they could free themselves from their stroke of fate, and that has deeply moved me.

The story is written in the past in the first person and the POV switches between the main characters Echo and Noah. Therefore I‘ve took them both quickly to my heart and also although Noah is the official bad-boy of this High School, he was for me never a real asshole or somebody, who strongly had to change to be the guy, he’s later at the end of the book. For me he was always the frank, charming type, only that he didn’t wanted to let the others see this side of him and almost all his ‚bad‘ actions were only based on good intentions.

Echo is also a character who is seen differently by the other people in the book, than she really is. Only if you know the truth about her and about her past than you can also understand her behavior, her grief and anger.
And together the both are unbeatable and you already see, I can’t stop slobber anymore. So, yes, I’ve really liked their interaction and the both as a couple, were just amazing. 😉

Maybe some things in the plot were foreseeable, but anyway here the resolution of their past and above all also their feelings, which originate of it, were the more important things in the book. Also the writing style of the author was customized for the story and has worked out the emotions even more!

Unfortunately, for me regard the thing with the love scenes it was a little too ‘juvenile’. What would have no problem if it were a normal YA book, but the rest of it appeared for me more grown-up than usual, and therefore I found it too bad, that it didn’t happened ‚more‘ between Echo and Noah. You know what I mean? 😉
The second little critic point is that at the end it was over too fast and I’m in general no fan of so short epilogues, which only fast summarize up what happened during the last two months, since the last chapter has ended. And the book simply stops, when I still don’t have enough of the characters and the story still long and I simply like to join their lives a little longer.

Cover:
I find the picture very matching and also beautiful. I like particularly Echo’s red hair and the intimate approach of two characters. *sigh*

All in all:
I felt that this book is a great mixture of the books ‘Perfect Chemistry’ and ‘Beautiful Disaster’. So if you have liked one of these two books, than you will definitely also love this one. *promise*

Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Ich habe zwar schon von anderen gehört, dass dieses Buch gut sein soll, doch da ich des Öfteren einen anderen Geschmack habe – besonders bei Jugendbüchern – bin ich auch hier mit Vorsicht an die Sache gegangen. Und siehe da, es war total unnötig, weil ich das Buch geliebt habe! *hach* Eine wirklich schöne, herzensberührende YA-Liebesgeschichte, die zwar auch ein paar Kritikpunkte von mir bekommt, aber nur bei Nichtigkeit, die nicht ins Gewicht fallen.

In ‚Pushing the Limits‘ treffen zwei Problem-Jugendliche aufeinander, als sie zur gleichen psychologischen Schulberaterin gehen müssen. Das Schicksal bzw. Miss Collins, die Schulpsychologin, möchte, dass Echo ihrem Mitschüler Noah beim Lernen hilft. Was daraus wird sind zunächst viele Streitereien, später eine Offenbarung bis hin zu dem Zeitpunkt, als sie beschließen zusammenzuarbeiten, um an Collins Akten über sie beide zu kommen. Denn alle zwei brauchen die eigene Akte, oder sie glauben es zumindest, um damit ihr Leben wieder auf die Reihe zu bringen. Ich will hier nichts verraten, aber beide haben mir unendlich leid getan und ich muss zugeben, ich habe auch heulen müssen. Besonders am Ende, aber nicht weil es so traurig war, sondern weil ich so erleichtert war und mich ihre Befreiung, aus dem ganzen traurigen Schicksalsschlagen, zutiefst bewegt hat.

Die Geschichte wird in der Vergangenheit der Ich-Perspektive geschildert und wechselt dabei zwischen den Hauptfiguren Echo und Noah. Beide habe ich rasch ins Herz geschlossen und auch obwohl Noah der Bad Boy der dortigen High School ist, war er für mich nie ein Arsch oder jemand, der sich stark verändern musste, um später derjenige zu sein, der er am Ende ist. Für mich war er immer der aufrichtige, liebenswerte Typ, nur wollte er das nicht nach außen tragen und fast alle seine ’schlechten‘ Taten, hatten im Grunde gute Absichten.

Echo ist genauso ein Charakter, der anders ist, als er von den anderen Leuten im Buch gesehen wird. Nur wenn man die Wahrheit über sie kennt, kann man auch ihr Verhalten und ihr Leid nachvollziehen.
Und gemeinsam sind die beiden für mich unschlagbar und ihr seht schon, ich kann nicht mehr aufhören zu schwärmen. Also ja, das Zusammenspiel und die beiden als Pärchen, haben mir grandios gut gefallen. 😉

Einiges war vielleicht in der Handlung vorhersehbar, aber hier ging es sowieso mehr um die Auflösung ihrer Vergangenheit und vor allem um die Gefühle, die dabei entstehen. Auch der Schreibstil der Autorin war maßgeschneidert zur Geschichte und hat die Emotionen noch weiter herausgearbeitet. Ganz großes Gefühls-Kino!

Leider war es mir bezüglich der Sache mit den Liebesszenen etwas zu ‚jugendlich’. Was mir sonst egal gewesen wäre, wenn auch der Rest eher wie eine seichtes Jugendbuch gewesen wäre, aber das Buch hat durchwegs erwachsener auf mich gewirkt und daher fand ich es schade, dass dann nicht ‚mehr‘ zwischen Echo und Noah passiert ist.
Ein zweiter kleiner Kritikpunkt ist, dass es mir am Ende zu schnell vorbei war und ich bin generell kein Fan von so kurzen Epilogs, die nur schnell zusammenfassen was in den letzten zwei Monaten, seit dem letzten Kapitel passiert ist und dann einfach aufhören, wenn man noch lange nicht genug von den Charakteren und der Geschichte hat und man einfach noch etwas länger an ihren Leben teilhaben möchte. 🙂

Cover Hardcover:
Finde ich sehr passend und auch schön. Mir gefallen besonders Echos Haare und die intime Annährung der zwei Figuren. *hach*

All in all:
Dieses Buch empfand ich als eine tolle Mischung aus den Büchern ‚Perfect Chemistry’ und ‚Beautiful Disaster’. Also wenn euch  eines dieser beiden Bücher gefallen hat, wird dieses hier ganz sicher auch was für euch sein. *versprochen*

Okay, ich geb‘ es auf-ich beschwere mich jetzt ganz einfach nicht über meinen hohen SUB, sondern freue mich über die neuen Bücher! 🙂
Die ersten zwei Bücher habe ich über die Kindle Gratisaktionstage von Amazon bekommen. Die restlichen Bücher sind Leseexemplare, auf die ich mich schon sehr gefreut habe. Besonders auf ‚Jacob‘ freue ich mich schon, da wir das Buch in unserer Goodreads Leserunde lesen werden.
