Synopsis:

My thoughts about the book:
Again a book which I couldn’t lay away and which carried my away from the first pages on. The main story, which is continuously running in the background, starts almost exactly where the first book ended, just 6 weeks later. Therefore it wasn’t hard to get into the story again and the usual suspense builds up again very fast. After the love story of Beth and Wrath, this books tells the love story about Mary and Rhage, the most beautiful but also the most dangerous one of the brothers of the Black Dagger, and how they met and got to know each other. At first we were told about Rhage’s excesses with alcohol, his brutality, his fights and all above his many women, which let him appear superficial, arrogant, but also a good-looking guy which only encourage his nickname ‚Hollywood‘. But after some pages the image of him starts to change and Ward let us see behind his façade and let us know about his reasons and about the impulse behind his doings, and let us help to understand about his curse, to have sympathy with him and wish him luck for the future. The complete counterpart to him is Mary, a helpful, good-hearted human woman, who has suffered already many strokes of fate. At first her dad left her when she was just a little child, then she watched over her slowly dying mother till she was gone and in the end she become sick herself with a painful illness, which she thought she had survived. Those two characters met by accident and from the first time on, Rhage know that she’s special and that he has to know her better, no matter which adversities or stones are in their way. The story about Rhage and Mary didn’t leave me cold and I wasn’t not only carried away in a swirl of emotions, passion and joy, but I was also touched and at some parts moved to tears.
But that wasn’t all what happened in this book. Besides the story of Rhage and Mary the plot of the vampire hunters, the lesser, and the black daggers did go on and also made thrilling twists and had a great suspense till the end, when the trap closed. Furthermore we meet new characters which got involved in the storyline and one of them was John Matthew, who I like dearly because of his beaten-up life so far, his fate with muteness, but also with his power of endurance and will to help others and his kind-heartedness. The only thing I didn’t like was that there was almost nothing mentioned about Beth and Wrath in this book, but I hope and I’m almost sure that there will be more about them in the next books. Now I’m really curious about how the story will go on and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. What will happen to Butch? How will they fight against the Lessers and how the Black Dagger Brotherhood will fight back.

The Cover of the first part is definitely the most appealing one because I like the color and the picture.

All in all:
Another thrilling and stunning book in the ‘Black Dagger Brotherhood’ series which is great and inspiring. Please read it!
