[Neuzugänge] Hey Mr.Postman…-May13 #1

Wieder darf ich mich über tolle neue Bücher freuen, welche bereits seit einiger Zeit auf meiner Wunschliste standen. Besonders auf ‘Rush of Love’ und ‘Glühende Dunkelheit‘ freue ich mich. Aber auch ‘Dein göttliches Herz entflammt’ klingt richtig gut. ‘The Lost Girl’ habe ich schon gelesen, aber ich war sehr enttäuscht davon, besonders von dem Ende. ‘The Selection’ habe ich von einer Freundin bekommen, aber hier bin ich sehr unsicher, ob das ein Buch was für mich ist… hier werde ich wohl noch etwas warten, bis ich es lesen werde.
Besonders freue ich mich auch auf ‘Schattenstunde‘ – das Buch habe ich vor ca. 2 Jahren auf Englisch gelesen und nun habe ich es endlich auch in Deutsch in Papier-Fomat.
Tja, und dann gibt es auch noch drei weitere eBooks, bei denen ich einfach nicht widerstehen konnte. ‘Ten Tiny Breaths’ musste ich einfach haben, und bei ‘The Summer I became a Nerd’ hat mir Nadine den Mund wässrig gemacht. Bei ‘Crossing’ habe ich nur das Cover gesehen und tja, musste auch runtergeladen werden. Ich weiß – ich bin schwach. *seufz*

Synopsis:
Strange things are happening in Maya’s tiny Vancouver Island town. First, her friend Serena, the captain of the swim team, drowns mysteriously in the middle of a calm lake. Then, one year later, mountain lions are spotted rather frequently around Maya’s home and her reactions to them are somewhat . . . unexpected. Her best friend, Daniel, has also been experiencing unexplainable premonitions about certain people and situations.
It doesn’t help that the new bad boy in town, Rafe, has a dangerous secret, and he’s interested in one special part of Maya’s anatomy her paw-print birthmark. (Source: Goodreads.com)

My thoughts about the book:
After I was extremely thrilled by Armstrong’s ‚Dark Powers‘ series, I absolutely also wanted to try her new YA series and I must say that also here again she could completely persuade me.

Not only Armstrong‘s writing style is again great and fluently to read, but also the characters were described well and likeable and above that I also got a female main character which I’ve really liked and was not irritated with a whiny attitude, but she was thinking rationally and has acted realistic and authentic. Also the other figures were nicely worked out, so that very soon I’ve been fond of them and the male combatant are not only physically very attractive, but also from their personality and character.

At some places the plot is partially a little longbreathed or also a bit foreseeable, but not so much that it would have disturbed me.
The only other criticism point here was to me, that the book is simply too short and it seemed to me like a prehistory, to introduce the scenery and the figures, but it is not really very much about the general story behind it.  But that doesn’t bother me much now, because on the one hand I’ll read the next part soon, and on the other hand I already know this approach of Armstrong from her first YA series. And hence, I’m persuaded of the fact that the book two and three will bubble over with tension and thrilling events that I won’t know any more how fast I should read, to get to know everything at once – and I love that!

Cover:
Unfortunately I‘ve the paperback version at home – for financial reasons – but I find the hardcover much more attractively with the illustrated face on it and the dark coloring. It’s really beautiful.

All in all:
An interesting prelude of a new book series, from where I’m persuaded that in the end, it will be one of my favorite series.

Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Nachdem ich von Armstrongs Reihe ‚Dunkle Mächte‘ wahnsinnig begeistert war, wollte ich unbedingt ihre neue YA Serie versuchen und ich muss sagen, dass sie mich auch hier wieder vollkommen überzeugen könnte.

Nicht nur Armstrongs Schreibstil ist wieder klasse und flüssig zu lesen, sondern auch die Charaktere waren gut beschrieben und endlich einmal wieder ein weiblicher Hauptcharakter, den ich mochte und der nicht genervt oder gejammert hat, sondern rational gedacht und gehandelt hat und nachvollziehbar und authentisch war. Auch waren die anderen Figuren schön ausgearbeitet, sodass man sie bald lieb gewonnen hat und die männlichen Mitstreiter sind nicht nur äußerlich, sondern auch von ihrem Wesen und Charakter sehr ansprechend.

Die Handlung ist teilweise an manchen vereinzelten Stellen etwas langatmiger oder auch vorhersehbar, aber nicht so sehr, dass es mich nun sonderlich gestört hätte.
Der einzig weitere Kritikpunkt der mir hier einfällt ist, dass das Buch zu kurz ist und es mehr wie eine Vorgeschichte wirkt, um die Szenerie und die Figuren vorzustellen, aber es wird noch nicht sehr auf die generelle Geschichte dahinter eingegangen. Aber mich stört das jetzt nicht sehr, da ich erstens bald den nächsten Band lesen werde und zweitens ich diese Vorgehensweise von Armstrong schon aus ihrer ersten YA Serie ‘Dunkle Mächte’ kenne und dort war es genauso. Und daher bin ich sehr davon überzeugt, dass Band zwei und drei nur so vor Spannung und Ereignissen sprudeln werden, dass man nicht mehr weiß wie schnell man noch lesen soll, um alles gleich zu erfahren – und so etwas liebe ich!

Cover:
Leider habe ich das Taschenbuch zuhause – aus finanziellen Gründen – aber ich finde das Hardcover um einiges ansprechender mit dem abgebildeten Gesicht darauf und der dunklen Farbgebung. Wirklich schön.

All in all:
Ein interessanter Auftakt einer neuen Reihe, von der ich überzeugt bin, dass sie am Ende zu meinen Lieblingsreihen gehören wird.

Was soll ich sagen außer ‚Der Geist war willig, aber das Fleisch war schwach‘… so etwa in der Art ist es  mir leider bei diesen Buchkäufen gegangen. Ich habe mir ganz klipp und klar geschworen erst wieder neue Bücher zu ordern, wenn ich meinen SUB unter 40 Bücher verringert habe. Doch dann habe ich ein Buch bei einem Gewinnspiel bei Filia gewonnen (‚Silberklinge‘ von Jon Cortenay Grimwood. Dankeschön nochmal für das Buch, freu mich total) und ich habe außerdem ein Buch erhalten, das ich schon vor längerer Zeit auf bookdepository bestellt habe. (‚The Calling‘ #2 von Kelley Armstrong).

Dazu sind nun doch auch ein paar neue Ebooks gekommen, die ich eigentlich gar nicht beabsichtigt habe… ehrlich nicht, aber dann surft man abends so gemütlich beim Fernsehen, klickt ein wenig herum bei den Büchern und plötzlich ist mein SUB wieder auf 50 angewachsen!!! Gibt es sowas?

Meine selbstgesetzte nicht zu übersteigende Büchergrenze ist ja 50 – und jetzt habe ich es fast geschafft diese zu sprengen! *juchu* Ich weiß nur nicht, ob ich mich freuen soll oder heulen… Wann soll ich das denn bitte alles lesen? *ojie*
Aber gut, soviel dazu und nun weiter zu meinen neuen Eroberungen! xD

What I should say except ‚the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak‘ … kind like that was happening to me with these book purchases. I’ve sworn to myself as clear as daylight that I won’t order new books till I’ve reduced the number of unread books at home to 40. However then I’ve won a book in a lottery at Filia (‘The Fallen Blade’ by Jon Cortenay Grimwood. Thanks again for that book, really awesome) and moreover I’ve received a book which I’ve already ordered a long time before on bookdepository. (‘The Calling’ #2 by Kelley Armstrong).

Now nevertheless I also got a few new eBooks which I’ve actually not intended at all … really – I didn’t, … but then in the evening I surfed so comfortably while watching television, I clicked a little around through the internet and searched some books and then, suddenly my number of unread books increased to 50!!! Is there such a thing?

My self-imposed book border, which I don’t want to exceeded, is 50 – and now I’ve almost blasted it! *great* I just don’t know whether I should be glad or start to cry … When should I find the time to read everything? *oh no*
But well, that was it and now I’ll show you my new captures! xD

Nachdem Chloe, Derek und die anderen zu einem Freund geflüchtet sind, bei dem sie sich in Sicherheit wägen, passieren auch dort mehr und mehr rätselhafte Dinge und sie beginnen sich zu fragen, ob sie sich einem Freund oder doch Feind anvertraut haben. Befinden sie sich in Sicherheit oder werten sie verraten und was passiert mit ihnen, wenn die Edison Group schnappt?

Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Das letzte Buch dieser Serie war mit Sicherheit das BESTE in dieser Reihe. Man konnte nicht genug davon bekommen und schon gar nicht schnell genug lesen, weil es soo spannend war, es ständig unerwartete Twists gab und die Charaktere wunderbar weiter entwickel haben – auch die Beziehungen untereinander. Es war schön zu lesen wie sich die Personen in der Story verändert, wie sie ihre eigene Stärke gefunden haben und sich untereinander immer besser kennen lernten.
An dieser Stelle muss ich erwähnen, dass ich Derek liebe (obwohl sein Name nicht ganz so toll ist) – aber der Typ ist einfach großartig, hart aber doch Intelligent und mit weichem Kern. Das Gleiche gilt für Chloe und besonders zusammen sind sie hervorragend. Es gibt meiner Meinung nur einen Punkt der mir an dieser Story oder an diesem letzten Teil nicht gefallen hat: Ich fand, dass für mich die Geschichte noch nicht ganz beendet war. Obwohl es bereits 3 Bände in dieser Serie gibt, sind für mich noch immer ungeklärte Fragen offen und es gibt noch viel zu erzählen. Nicht nur von den Experiment, oder was sie als nächstes tun werden, sondern auch von den Beziehungen untereinander. Es wirkt ein wenig so, als ob die Autorin plant an dieser Reihe noch eine Fortsetzung zu schreiben – und ich hoffe stark darauf und würde mich ungemein darüber freuen.

Gleich wie die anderen Teile – hätte vielleicht etwas mehr Abwechslung vertragen.

Fazit:
Ein hervorragender Abschluss einer grandiosen Bücherreihe, welche ich gerne weiter empfehlen werde. Und ich werde auf alle Fälle in Zukunft noch mehr Bücher von dieser Autorin lesen.

Chloe kann mit Geistern sprechen und Tote auferstehen lassen und vielleicht noch mehr, dass sie noch nicht weiß, da sie, Derek und die anderen das Ergebnis eines genetischen und vor allem fehlgeschlagenen Experiments der Edision Group sind. Und ihre ‚Schöpfer‘ haben nun Angst vor den Jugendlichen, den man kann ihre Kräfte und ihre Stärke nicht einschätzen. Deshalb müssen sich Chloe und ihre Freunde verstecken und um ihr Leben rennen.

Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Das zweite Buch dieser Bücherserie startet genau da, wo der letzte Teil aufgehört hat. So wie ich es mir erhofft hatte war das zweite Buch schon sehr viel spannender und man bekomm mehr Antworten auf ungelöste Fragen und Erklärungen, und Einblick auf die Hintergründe dieser ganzen Verschwörung. Außerdem erfährt man endlich auch mehr über die Charaktere, besonders über Chloe und Derek und es bahnt sich eine interessante Verbindung zwischen den Beiden an… anscheinend gibt es einen Grund warum er immer so mies gelaunt und kratzbürstig ist, für mich aber kein Grund, dass ich ihn weniger leiden kann.
Wieder einmal ist der Schreibstil von Armstrong flüssig und gut zum lesen und doch erzählt sie ihre Geschichte detailliert beschrieben und mit viel Spannung und Gänsehautfeeling.

Englisches Cover:
Wenig Unterschied zum ersten Teil. Schön und elegant, aber auch ‘nichts -sagend’

Fazit:
Schöne Fortsetzung mit mehr Spannung, mehr Gefühl und Gänsehaut – Toll!
