Hey Mr. Postman…- April 2013 # 1

Neue Bücher sind eingetrudelt und ich freue mich tierisch darüber. Ich weiß gar nicht wo ich anfangen soll. Bei ‘Walking Disaster’ habe ich Glück gehabt, da es bei netgalley nur eine begrenzte Stückzahl gab und bin natürlich happy, dass ich eine von den Glücklichen bin!
‘Clockwork Princess’ habe ich schon gelesen, bin aber enttäuscht. Wen meine Meinung interessiert – hier kommt ihr zur Rezi.
Auf Frostherz und die beiden anderen Bücher bin aber auch schon gespannt, wobei beide zweite Teile sind, und mir die ersten Bände sehr gut gefallen haben. Also sollte mit diesen Büchern nichts schief gehen!

Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Ich habe mir einige Tage nach dem beenden des Buches Zeit gelassen, um die Rezension zu schreiben, weil ich einfach irgendwie enttäuscht war und nicht zu streng bei meiner Rezension sein wollte. (Hat nicht ganz geklappt^^) Eigentlich war ich nach den ersten drei Bänden von Chroniken der Unterwelt ein Fan von Cassandra Clare, aber das ändert sich leider immer mehr.

Ihr Schreibstil ist zwar ähnlich, wie bei ihren anderen Büchern, aber ich finde, sie schweift immer mehr ab und ihre Umgebungsbeschreibungen werden immer länger und ausführlich, dass ich einfach manchmal ein oder zwei Seiten kurz überfliege, weil sowieso nichts passiert. Das ist mir auch schon bei Clockwork Prince oder beim fünften Teil von Chroniken der Unterwelt aufgefallen. Und auch hier bei Clockwork Princess waren unzählige, unnötige Seiten, die man besser kürzen hätte sollen. Aber anscheinend muss sich eine CC nicht  mehr kurzfassen oder das Lektorat traut sich nichts mehr zu streichen… keine Ahnung. Mir war es zu viel.

Genauso die Dramatik in der Liebesbeziehung! Geht es eigentlich noch dramatisch und aufgebauschter? Nein, ich denke, das ist fast unmöglich. Die erste Hälfte des Buches passiert quasi fast nichts in der eigentlichen Handlung, sondern es dreht sich alles nur um das Liebestriangel von Tessa, Jem und Will. Wahnsinn – und das bei einem fast 600-Seiten-Buch! Einigen hat das vielleicht gefallen, ich fand es schlecht.
Was zum größten Teil wohl daran liegt, dass ich Tessa irgendwie nicht mehr mag. Zuerst verliebt sie sich Hals über Kopf in Will, dann nimmt sie sich halt Jem als Trostpflaster, weil sie sonst nicht weiß, was sie mit ihrer Zeit anfangen soll und willigt sogar ein, in zu heiraten… nur um dann die unglückliche Verlobte spielen zu können, die sich eigentlich nach Will sehnt… *würg*

Natürlich ist Will ihr genauso verfallen *Überraschung* aber er muss seine Gefühle verstecken und unterdrücken, weil er Jem sooo sehr liebt und ihm keine Schmerzen zufügen möchte, besonders weil dieser ja bald stirbt – zum Glück für die beiden – aber daran dürfen sie ja nicht denken, weil sonst wären sie ja böse, böse Charaktere und das sind sie ja nicht. *Augen verdreh*
Ich finde, Will war nicht mehr der gleiche sarkastische, geistreiche, umwerfende Charakter, den wir in Teil eins kennengelernt haben. Keine Ahnung, aber irgendwann im Laufe der Reihe, hat er an Charme eingebüßt. Und auch Tessa fand ich in Teil eins um einiges besser. Jetzt nervt sie mich nur noch mit ihrem perfekt sein… sie ist dadurch sterbenslangweilig geworden. Oder geht es nur mir so? Tja, die drei Hauptcharas haben leider von mir nur ein Minus bekommen, dafür konnten aber die Lightwoodbrüder bei mir punkten, und auch Wills kleine Schwester Cecily fand ich toll.

Zur Handlung, die dann doch ab der Hälfte etwas ins Rollen gekommen ist, war für Clares Verhältnisse sehr mau und eher langweilig. Keine Ahnung, aber es war mehr ein Lese-Muss, als ein Lese-Wollen und es hat sich durchwegs gezogen. War der Bösewicht in Teil zwei noch jemand zum fürchten, hat auch er hier im letzten Teil sehr an seiner Stärke eingebüßt und sein Ende war auch nicht so, wie ich es erwartet hätte.

Achtung, ab hier –> !! SPOILER !!

Aber der absolute Tiefpunkt des Buches war für mich erreicht, nachdem Jem vermeintlich gestorben war und Will danach Tessa gefunden hat. Anstatt wegen ihrem gemeinsamen Freund Jem zu trauern – okay, zwei/ drei Stunden haben sie sich kurz dafür Zeit genommen – sind sie einfach miteinander in die Kiste gesprungen… ich glaub’s nicht!! Wie unsensibel kann man eigentlich sein?? … Da behauptet Tessa ständig, sie ist in beide verliebt oder liebt Jem und er ist noch nicht einmal richtig kalt und sie treibt es mit einem anderen??? Hallo? Sorry, wenn ich mich etwas grob ausdrücke, aber das ist doch ohne jeglichen Charakter, oder regt das nur mich so auf? Und das BESTE ist, dass Clary und Jace das nicht geschafft haben, in der Zeit, in der sie sich kennen und lieben, obwohl die MI-Story im Jahr 2008 spielt, aber Tessa und Will machen das im prüden, alten London. Das soll noch jemand verstehen. *tz*

Außerdem weiß ich auch nicht, was ich über das Ende sagen soll – aber es hat mich doch überrascht oder weinend zurückgelassen, aber auch verärgert… und traurig gemacht. Die ganze Zeit über rennt Tessa will nach, nachdem Jem aus dem Weg ist und sie endlich zusammen sein können, ist die Geschichte vorbei und es kommt sofort der Epilog, der x-Jahre später spielt und in dem man sofort erfährt, wie Will gestorben ist. Wieder einmal sehr sensibel, Miss Clare.
Und warum das, na damit in der Gegenwart, Tessa wieder auf Jem treffen kann, der überaschenderweise nun wieder der alte Jem ist – jung und gesund – und mit ihm nun glücklich eine Beziehung eingehen kann. Na, da hätte Tessa ja nun alles in ihrem Leben bekommen. Jipie und Tralala *Kopf schüttel*

Cover:
Schönes Cover und vom Stil her sehr ähnlich zu den beiden Vorgängern. Wobei mir der goldene Strahl aus dem Buch, es zu kitschig macht, wenn er derart schillert.

All in all:
Für manche wird es wohl ein schöner, passender Abschluss für die Reihe sein, aber ich bin nicht ganz glücklich damit gewesen. Trotzdem bin ich froh, dass diese Serie nun beendet ist und ich sie abschließen konnte. Clare überzeugt mich leider immer weniger und nachdem ich auch MI nächstes Jahr beende, werde ich wohl keine Reihe/ Buch mehr von ihr lesen.

I’m a huge fan of the Cassandra Clare’s series and I was hooked to her world of shadowhunters from the first book on. I really love her fantastic writing style and her way of using words to create an amazing world. Therefore I’m really looking forward to this book and I think this cover looks just soo asweome that I’ve no words for it. For me this cover is definitely the best in the whole series.

My thoughts about the book:
I‘ve waited long for the fifth book in the Mortal Instruments series and I’ve pre-ordered the book already months before the release date on the internet. Was it worth it? I would say YES!
Of course there were, like in every other book, a few points I didn’t like so much, because an author (almost) can’t catch the taste of the reader to 100 percent. However, the advantage with the books of Clare is that she is able to write incredibly great and her writing style is just to be read nicely and liquidly and well, what could I say except -> ‚the woman can write’ and already because of that I like to read her books with pleasure, even if I don’t go along completely with every twist in the plot of the book.

In the fifth part the story focuses more and turns around Jace and Clary again, instead on Simon, like in the fourth book. But nevertheless the other figures don’t get too short and Clare often changes the character’s POV to the next one in which also Simon, Izzy, Alec, Maia, etc. gets a chance to speak. If I’ve noted it correctly, almost all main characters are allowed this time to tell a part of the story, but unfortunately only Jace didn’t get in the row which I found sad and was a pity. Moreover, for me it was partially that there were too many changes in the perspectives and character, although it has just kept in check.

Furthermore I’ve liked in this book exceptionally well the dynamism between the couples like Jordan & Maia, Izzy & Simon, Alec & Magnus or also the sibling-relationship of Clary and Sebastian. In this book partnership, love and big feelings or also sex were capitalized, even more than in the other books before. Although I have no problem with that, I still think that it is doubtful that the age recommendation (for example on Amazon) is only 12-15 years. It seems to me that this is a little bit too young for the contents of the book. Or what do you think and which opinion do you have on this topic?

But nevertheless I found it fabulous how Clare has made it to introduce some of the new characters of the new series like for example Jules, which will be published after MI and ID.  But she was also able to let some hints of the other characters form the ID series flow into this book. Even if these were only little things or only short cross-references which a non-fan wouldn’t recognize at all, but I as a MI and ID fan loved it and it was so nice to read and has brought me often to the smile.

From here on is a SPOILER for those who haven’t read this book:

Clare has made fantastic job to present Sebastian and also to show the relation between him and Jace, but at the same time also between him and Clary. I must admit, shortly before the end before the big ‘closure’ came, Sebastian has persuaded even me and actually I’ve really liked him as a character. Certainly he was a little eccentric but by the explanation of his childhood / his past it was coherent and it has also persuaded me and I’ve also felt sorry for him. Hence, I would have liked to see that he was purified and that he would play for ‘Team Good’ how…, but unfortunately Clare has other intentions with him and therefore we still have him as our villain in the book *too bad*

What has irritated me very much at the end of the book was that Jace has now this heavenly fire in him and thereby he always has to pay attention whenever he touches somebody. I think this whole sex theme between Clary and Jace and ‚the first time’ of them is too much capitalized here and to be honest, it gets a litter annoying now after 5 books. With the other characters Clare also doesn’t make such a big theatre around it, but with these two main characters it already takes almost unnatural traits. This thing here reminds me very much of the book series ‘The Immortals’ by Alyson Noel and there it was dreadful and also here this fact disturbs me very much that they are now not able to touch each other properly. Why can’t they be happy together for at least one book and fight as a pair together against the bad ones? Is it so much more thrilling to read the book if they must work out their relationship besides the action fights? I don’t think so. But Clare does and she is already searching for problems between them since the first book over and over again and to find reasons why they can’t be together. Although I know that there will be a happy end after the sixth book (I count on it), nevertheless I find it unnecessary that Jace and Clary kept away from each other ‘come hell or high water’.

Unfortunately I don’t like is as much as the other covers because I like it more if you can’t see the whole face. Especially here where the shown Jace doesn’t look like the described Jace in the books.

All in all:
Another good book in this fabulous great series which I’ve devoured once again, although the books become thicker and thicker. I had a big reading pleasure, in spite of some small critic points.

Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Lange habe ich auf den fünften Teil in der Mortal Instruments Reihe gewartet und das Buch bereits Monate vor dem Erscheinungsdatum im Internet vorbestellt. Hat es sich gelohnt? Ich würde sagen JA!
Natürlich gab es wie in jedem Buch ein paar Kritikpunkte, da ein Autor (fast) nicht zu Hundertprozent den Geschmack des Lesers treffen kann. Der Vorteil bei den Büchern von Clare ist aber, dass sie unglaublich gut schreiben kann und ihre Schreibweise einfach nur schön und flüssig zu lesen ist und tja, was soll ich sagen außer ->  ‚Die Frau kann einfach schreiben‘ und schon deswegen lese ich gerne ihre Bücher, auch wenn ich hin und wieder nicht ganz mit der Handlung im Buch konform gehe.

Im fünften Teil dreht sich die Geschichte wieder vermehrt um Jace und Clary, anstatt wie im vierten Teil um Simon. Aber es kommen die anderen Figuren trotzdem nicht zu kurz und Clare wechselt oft von einem Charakter zum nächsten, womit auch Simon, Izzy, Alec, Maia usw. zu Wort kommen. Wenn ich es richtig bemerkt habe, durften dieses Mal wirklich fast alle Hauptcharaktere einen Teil der Geschichte erzählen, nur Jace kam leider nicht an die Reihe, was ich sehr schade finde. Außerdem war es für mich teilweise so, dass schon zu viele Perspektiven-/ Charakterwechsel waren, obwohl es sich gerade noch in Grenzen gehalten hat.

Weiters hat mir in diesem Buch außerordentlich gut die Dynamik zwischen den Pärchen gefallen wie Jordan & Maia, Izzy & Simon, Alec & Magnus oder auch die geschwisterliche Beziehung von Clary und Sebastian. In diesem Buch wurden Partnerschaft, Liebe und große Gefühle bzw. auch Sex groß geschrieben, viel mehr als in den Vorgängern. Wobei ich kein Problem damit habe, ich es aber doch für fraglich finde, dass die Altersbeschränkung zb. auf Amazon 12-15 ist. Kommt mir für den Inhalt dann doch etwas zu jung vor. Oder wie seht ihr das und welche Meinung habt ihr dazu?

Aber trotzdem fand ich es grandios wie es Clare geschafft hat zu einem die neuen Charaktere der neuen Serien wie zb. Jules vorzustellen, welche nach MI und ID kommen wird, aber auch etwas von den anderen Charakteren aus ID einfließen zu lassen. Auch wenn es nur Kleinigkeiten sind oder nur kurze Querverweise, die einem nicht-Fan gar nicht auffallen, fand ich es als MI und ID Fan sehr schön zu lesen und hat mich des Öfteren zum Lächeln gebracht.

Clare hat es toll gemacht Sebastian darzustellen und auch die Beziehung zwischen ihm und Jace zu zeigen, aber genauso jene zwischen ihm und Clary. Ich muss zugeben, kurz vor dem Ende, bevor die ‚Auflösung‘ kam, hat Sebastian sogar mich überzeugt und ich habe ihn als Charakter eigentlich ganz gerne gemocht. Sicher, er war etwas exzentrisch, aber durch die Erklärung aus seiner Kindheit/Vergangenheit war es stimmig und hat mich überzeugt und er hat mir leid getan. Daher hätte ich gerne gesehen, dass er geläutert wurde und nun für ‚Team Good‘ spielt… leider hat Clare aber andere Absichten mit ihm und wir haben ihn weiterhin als unseren Bösewicht. *schade*

Was mich ganz am Ende sehr irritiert hat war, dass Jace nun dieses himmlische Feuer in sich hat und dadurch nun immer aufpassen muss, wenn er jemanden berührt. Ich finde dieses ganze Sex-Thema zwischen Clary und Jace und ‚das erste Mal‘ von ihnen, wird hier sehr groß geschrieben und besonders betont, dass es schon nervig wird. Bei den anderen Charakteren macht sie auch nicht so ein Theater darum, aber bei diesen zwei Hauptcharakteren nimmt es schon fast unnatürliche Züge an. Mich erinnert diese Sache hier sehr an die ‚Immortals‘-Reihe von Alyson Noel und dort habe ich es furchtbar gefunden und auch hier stört mich diese Tatsache sehr, dass sie sich nun nicht zu nahe kommen dürfen. Warum können sie nicht zumindest ein Buch lang glücklich eine Beziehung führen und als Paar gemeinsam gegen das Böse kämpfen? Ist es soviel spannender zu lesen, wenn sie ihre Beziehung nebenbei auch noch klären müssen? Ich glaube nicht. Aber Clare leider schon und sie sucht seit dem ersten Buch immer wieder angestrengt nach einem Problem, warum die beiden nicht zusammen sein können. Obwohl ich weiß, dass es sehr wohl ein Happy-End geben wird, finde ich es trotzdem unnötig, dass die beiden auf Biegen und Brechen von einander fern gehalten werden.

Gefällt mir leider nicht so gut wie die anderen, weil ich es lieber mag, wenn man nicht das ganze Gesicht sehen kann. Besonders hier wo der vermeintliche Jace überhaupt nicht aussieht wie der beschriebene Jace im Buch.

All in all:
Ein gutes, weiteres Buch in einer tollen Reihe, das ich wieder einmal verschlungen habe, obwohl die Bücher immer dicker werden. Ich hatte ein großes Lesevergnügen, trotz vereinzelter kleiner Kritikpunkte.

I don’t like the new covers after the third book where you can see the whole face – it ruins the illusion/ imagination for me. Especially this cover isn’t my taste.

Ich weiß, dass ich eigentlich keine neuen Bücher kaufen wollte, bevor mein SUB wieder verringert wurde, aber ich habe einige Vorbestellungen bekommen, die ich schon vor Monaten gemacht habe und außerdem ein paar gratis ebooks bekommen und da kann ich natürlich auch nicht ‘Nein’ sagen. Einige von den Büchern habe ich aber dafür schon wieder gelesen, wie zb. ‘The Immortal Rules’ und ‘Das Geheimnis der Flamingofrau’, sowie lese ich zurzeit ‘City of Lost Souls’..

I know that I actually wanted to buy no new books before I’ve reduced again my number of unread books, but I’ve got some advance orders which I’ve already made months ago and moreover I also got some free ebooks and there I couldn’t say ‘NO’ of course.
