Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Um die Worte von Vishous zu verwenden – dieses Buch war einfach nur ‚fan-fucking-tastic’ awesome!!!
Ich hatte hohe Erwartungen an das Buch, weil es mir so vorkam ich, als ob ich eine Ewigkeit darauf warten musste. Aber es hat sich voll und ganz ausgezahlt und für dieses Buch wäre es sogar wert, noch ein Jahr zu warten – obwohl es mich umgebracht hätte – und es hat mehr als nur meine Erwartungen erfüllt, in jedem Bereich. Ich liebe dieses Buch und es gehört nun definitiv zu meinen Lieblingen in der Black Dagger Reihe!
Ich hatte soviel Spaß beim Lesen, dass ich es nicht in Worte fassen kann. Es war stets mitreißend und emotional und ich habe es innerhalb von 4 Tagen ausgelesen, obwohl das Buch 572 Seiten hat und auf Englisch war! Um ehrlich zu sein, habe ich es nicht nur gelesen, sondern förmlich aufgesaugt, fast schon inhaliert wie ein abhängiger Drogensüchtiger. Und ich werde es mit Sicherheit bald noch ein zweites Mal lesen, nur um sicher zu stellen, dass ich kein kleinstes Detail verpasst habe.
Nach dem schwachen 9ten Teil ‚Lover Unleashed’ mit der Geschichte von Payne und Manny, kam nun im zehnten Band endlich Tohr an die Reihe, den ich schon in den ersten zwei Bändern ins Herz geschlossen hatte, um sein Happy – End zu bekommen. Aber bis dorthin hat er, wie auch wir als Leser, viele Schmerzen erleiden müssen. Sein Buch war voll von Verzweiflung, Traurigkeit, Unglaube und Wut, wegen dem viel zu frühen und brutalen Mord seiner schwangeren Frau Wellsie. Oh Gott; er war in solcher Qual und auch ich habe viele Tränen für ihn uns seine Familie vergossen und ich war ebenfalls wie gefangen von seinem Verlust und Verzweiflung, die anfänglich kein Ende, keine Erlösung zu finden schien.
Doch es wäre kein Ward- Buch, gäbe es nicht auch hier ein Happy- End für Tohr und No’One, für das ich ihr wahnsinnig dankbar bin. Obwohl es Momente gab, bei denen man dachte, es gibt kein zurück mehr und ein unglückliches Ende ist in baldiger Reichweite, hat sie es doch geschafft am Ende all glücklich zu machen. *toll*
Aber nicht nur Tohr und No’One kamen in diesem Buch zu Wort, sondern es war auch wieder eine Menge von meinem geliebten John Matthew dabei, der leider mehr als nur Streitereien mit seiner Shellan Xhex hatte. Auch sie konnten es am Ende bereinigen, von dem ich sowieso von Anfang an aus ging. Doch ich muss ehrlich zugeben, dass ich Xhex zwar alleine als Charakter mag, aber ich war bereits in Lover Mine von der Konstellation der beiden als Paar nicht begeistert. Xhex ist zu hart und äußerlich gefühlskalt und für John hätte ich mir einen weicheren, gefühlvolleren Charakter gewünscht, nachdem was er bereits alles durchmachen musste. Aber gut, das ist nicht für mich zum entscheiden, sondern ein Fakt, der mich nun einmal ein wenig stört.
In Lover Reborn kam wenig von der Lessning Society vor, obwohl immer wieder Kämpfe gegen sie stattfanden, aber der Fokus lag in diesem Buch eindeutig auf einem anderen Feind. Und zwar hat die Band of Bastards (BoB), die barbarische Gruppe aus dem alten Land, angeführt von Xcor, einen fatalen Schlag gegen König Wrath erzielt. Wodurch nun der Kampf und die Aufmerksamkeit der Bruderschaft, auf diese Gruppe gelenkt wurde und an Priorität gewonnen hat. Ich finde diese Konstellation der zwei Gruppen und ihre Aggression gegeneinander, wahnsinnig spannend und ich kann es kaum erwarten zu erfahren wie es weiter geht in diesen unerbitterlichen Kampf. Was ich von Ward faszinierend finde, ist, dass sie Xcor nicht nur als den Bösen oder als Monster darstellt, obwohl er bereits viele schändliche Taten begangen hat, sondern, dass man auch hinter seine Fassade blicken kann und seinen inneren Konflikt bemerkt, der ihn aufgrund seiner Erziehung, seines Trainings zum Biest werden ließ. Und ich bin mir sehr sicher, dass auch er bald sein Buch bekommt und ich habe bereits eine sehr starke Vorahnung, mit wem er am Ende zusammen kommen wird. 
Das Beste an diesem Buch war, dass es in mir alle Emotionen heraus gekitzelt hat, die man nur haben kann. Ich habe geweint mit Tohr und Wellsie. Ich war traurig und verbittert mit No’One, Qhuinn oder Layla. Verzweifelt und verloren auf John’s Wegen oder ich konnte mit den anderen Brüdern und auch dem Engel Lassiter, lachen und Spaß haben. Und über allen konnte ich am Ende glücklich sein und mit einem wohligen Lächeln auf den Lippen dieses Buch beenden – zufrieden und befriedigt auf ganzer Linie.

Okay – eigentlich wollte ich nicht spoilern, aber weil mich schon einige im Forum gefragt haben, muss ich ein paar SPOILER verraten.
Ich weiß nicht wo ich beginnen soll. Es ist so viel passiert auf diesen 570 Seiten, so viel ist verraten worden, dass es schwer ist, den richtigen Anfang zu finden.
* Zu aller erst, weiß ich, dass es viele von euch interessiert wie No’One’s richtiger Name ist. Früher im alten Land war ihr Vorname ‚Rosalhynda’, aber der Nachname wird leider nie genannt (obwohl einige im Forum eine Vermutung haben, wer mit ihr, neben Xhex ,verwandt sein könnte). In diesem Buch wird sie nach der Hälfte von Tohr zu ‘Autumn’ umbenannt – weil er die Farben dieser Jahreszeit mag, die Leichtkraft und die Schönheit – so wie er auch No’One sieht.
* Jeder kann sich doch noch daran erinnern, dass Qhuinn im sechsten Teil brutal zusammen geschlagen wurde und er dabei fast gestorben wäre, oder? Könnt ihr euch auch noch daran erinnern, dass er vor der Tür des ‘Makers’ ein kleines, blondes Kind mit zwei verschieden farbigen Augen gesehen hat?! JA – erinnert ihr euch.
Ich denke, das wird bald Realität werden, weil Layla ihr ‚Needing’ hatte und Qhuinn ihr in dieser Zeit gedient hat. Aber keine Angst- sie lieben sich nicht und werden nur für das Kind zusammen halten (wie Freunde).
* Layla hat sich nämlich in einen anderen verliebt, bzw. sie fantasiert von ihm, obwohl sie kein Wort miteinander gesprochen haben. Aber sie kann nicht mit ihm zusammen sein, weil er eigentlich der Feind ist und brutal und bestialisch – doch sie hat in seine Augen, hinter seine Fassade geblickt, direkt in das Herz von… -> Xcor!
Ich bin fast zu 99 % sicher, dass die beiden irgendwann zusammen kommen werden. (so wie die Schöne und das Biest? ^^)
* Qhuinn war nicht aus Liebe mit Layla zusammen sondern nur weil er ein Kind möchte, eine Familie, zu der er voll ung ganz gehört. Und ich habe so ein Gefühl, dass wir bald endlich unser Qhuay – HEA bekommen und dass hoffentlich das nächste Buch über Qhuinn und Blay sein wird. Wollt ihr wissen warum? Wegen diesen Absatzes am Ende des Buches:
„Enough, Qhuinn thought.
Enough with the excuses, and the avoidance, and the trying to be someone, anyone else.
Even if he got shanked, even if his precious little ego and his dumb-ass little heart got shattered into little pieces, it was time to stop the bullshit. It was time to be a male.

Geeee, wie toll hört sich das den an und wie vielversprechend, dass Buch # 11 über die beiden sein wird?? Kann es kaum erwarten! *toll*

Mir gefällt das Cover ausgesprochen gut und ich finde es toll, dass endlich ein Kerl abgebildet ist, der wirklich dem Charakter im Buch ähnlich sieht. Außerdem mag die die Farbgebung und den Bluttropfen, der beim Buchstaben hinunter hängt.
All in all:
Ich kann nicht mehr sagen, wie oft ich schon erwähnt habe, dass ich diese Serie von Ward, wie auch dieses Buch hier liebe und es mit Sicherheit noch oft lesen werde. Für jeden, der die Bücher noch nicht gelesen – verdammt noch mal – fängt sie endlich an zu lesen und lasst euch auch in diese brutale, aber zugleich hinreißende, mitfühlende Welt der Black Dagger ziehen.

My thougts about the book:
To quote Vishous’ words – this book was just ‚fan-fucking-tastic’ awesome!!!
I had high expectations for this book because to me it seemed as if I had to wait an eternity for it. But it has completely paid off and for this book it would be even worth to wait another year – although that would have killed me – and the book has more than only fulfilled my expectations, in every area. I love this book and now it is definitively one of my favorites in the Black Dagger series!
I had so much fun while reading that I can’t form it into proper words. It was always thrilling and emotional and I have read it within 4 days, although the book has 572 pages and was in English! To be honest I’ve not only read it, but have formally soaked it up, almost inhaled it like a drug addict. And I’ll read it soon for a second time, only to make sure that I haven’t missed the smallest detail.
After the weak 9th book ‘Lover Unleashed’ with the story of Payne and Manny, we got the tenth book, in which finally Tohr has his time to get his ‘happily ever after’, who I already liked from the first two books and who I took to my heart. But up to that point he had to suffer, as well as we as the readers, great pains.
His book was full of desperation, sadness, disbelief and fury, because of the too early and cruel murder of his pregnant wife Wellsie. Oh God; he was in such torture and also I’ve poured many tears for him and his gone family and I was also caught by his loss and desperation, which at first seemed to come to no end, to no salvation.
But it wouldn’t be a real Ward-book, if there wouldn’t be also a happy-ending for Tohr and No’One, for which I’m incredibly grateful. Although there were moments in which I thought, there is no going back again and an unhappy-ending is unstoppable, Ward has made it again and presented us an end which made me totally happy. *great*
In this book not only Tohr and No’One got their chance to speak, but there was also a great part of my beloved John Matthew in it, who had, unfortunately, more than only little fights with his Shellan Xhex. But in the end they could also figure it out, which I already hoped for in the beginning.
However, honestly I must admit that though I like Xhex alone as a character, I was already in ‘Lover Mine#8’ not very happy by the constellation of Xhex and John as a couple. In my opinion Xhex is just too hard and on the outside too emotionally cold and for John I would have wished for a softer, more soulful female by his side, after everything he already had to go through. But well, this is not for me to decide, but a fact which disturbs me a little and which I wanted to mention here.
In ‘Lover Reborn’ wasn’t much about the lessening society, although there were fights over and over again against them, but the focus in this book lay unmistakably on another enemy. Namely the Band of Bastard (BoB), the barbarian group from the old country, headed by Xcor, has achieved a fatal hit against king Wrath. Whereby now the fights and the attention of the Brotherhood were directed on this group and have won their priority. I find this constellation of those two groups and their aggression against each other, incredibly exciting and I can’t wait to get to know how it will go on in this remorseless fight.
What I really liked about Ward was, that she presented Xcor not only as an evil/bad person or as a monster, although he has already committed many scandalous doings, but Ward let us also look behind his facade and his internal conflict, and showed us that he became this bad beast because of his education and his training. And I’m sure that he also gets his book soon and I already have a very strong foreboding with which female he will end up.
The best in this book was that it has addressed in me all my emotions. I’ve cried with Tohr and Wellsie. I was sad and bitter with No’One, Qhuinn or Layla. Despaired and lost together with John or I was also able to have fun and laugh with the other brothers or also with the angel Lassiter. And about all in the end I could be happy and finish this book with a pleasant smile on my lips – entirely content and satisfied.

Okay – actually, I didn’t wanted to spoil too much, but because some members from the book forum already asked me, I just have to give away some great SPOILER. Hence, please don’t read on if you don’t want to know – for all the others – keep on reading!
I don’t know where I should begin exactly because it happened so much in these 570 pages.
* At first I know that some of you are interested in the right name of No’One’. Previous in the old country her given name was ‚Rosalhynda’, but, unfortunately her surname was never mentioned in the book (although some guys have already an idea with whom she could be related beside Xhex ^^).
Later in this book she got a new name by Tohr and he called her ‘Autumn’ because he likes the colors, the strength of light and the beauty of this season – like ‘No’One’ is for him.
* Everybody can still remember that in the sixth book Qhuinn was beaten up so brutally by his own family that he almost died, right? Can you also still remember that he stood before the door of the ‘maker’ and that he saw there a little, blond child with two different colored-eyes?! YES – you can remember – great! Guys, I think that this will soon become reality because Layla had her needing in this book and she asked Qhuinn to serve her in this time.
But no worries – they don’t love each other and they only want to have a child. Actually, they are more like good friends but without any sexual feelings.
* Layla has fallen in love with another, or better to say – she fantasizes about a man, although they have never spoken a word to each other. And the biggest problem is, that she can’t be with him because he is the enemy and brutal and beastly – but she didn’t know that at first when she fed him and while that she has looked into his eyes, behind his facade, directly into the heart of …. -> Xcor and I’m almost 100% sure, that they both will end up together in the future. (Like in ‘The Beauty and the Beast’? ^^)
* Also Qhuinn isn’t in love with Layla and they only hooked up because she begged him and he also wanted to get this child, which he saw at the door of the ‘maker’. They both have nothing of their own and they two just want to belong somewhere, to somebody and they think they will get this with a baby to care for and to love.
* News about Qhuay: I’ve a feeling that we’ll finally get our Qhuay – HEA soon and that maybe hopefully the next book is about Qhuinn and Blay. Do you want to know why? Because of these quote at the end of the book ‘Lover Reborn’:

I really like cover so much and I think it’s great that finally a guy is on the cover, who looks really similar to the character in the book. Moreover I like the colors and the blood drop which hangs down the letter.
All in all:
I can’t say how often I’ve already mentioned it that I LOVE this series by Ward, as well as this book and I’m sure I’ll say this much more often in the future. For everybody who hasn’t read the books yet – damn it – just get the books and start reading it and let yourself drag also in this crude, but at the same time also thrilling, compassionate, emotional, lovely world of the Black Daggers.

Honestly, I don’t know this book ‘Whisper’ by Isabel Abedi, but I’ve heard that she is a fabulous author and therefore I want to give it a try.

Die Handlung spielt in einer nicht allzu fernen Zukunft. Nachdem Nordamerika von einer Naturkatastrophe heimgesucht worden war, gründete sich daraus der diktatorische Staat Panem. Er besteht aus 13 Distrikten und dem Kapitol als Regierungssitz. Während es den Menschen im Kapitol gut geht, kämpfen die Menschen in den Distrikten ums tägliche Überleben; schließlich kam es in Distrikt 13 zu einem Aufstand, in Folge dessen er angeblich vom Kapitol vernichtet wurde. Um derlei Aufstände in Zukunft zu verhindern, begründet das Kapitol die sogenannten Hungerspiele.
Der Film setzt vor den 74. Hungerspielen ein. Bei der Auslosung der Spielkandidaten wird Primrose Everdeen als Kandidatin der Spiele ausgelost. Durch die große Schwesterliebe zu ihr, meldet sich jedoch Katniss Everdeen als Freiwillige für die Spiele und löst somit ihre Schwester von der Last ab. Zusammen mit dem ebenfalls aus Distrikt 12 stammenden Peeta Mellark reist sie ins Kapitol, um sich dort für die Spiele vorzubereiten und diese zu gewinnen. Obwohl eigentlich nur eine Einzelperson die Spiele gewinnen kann, können beide durch ihren Widerstand gegen das Kapitol und einen geplanten gemeinsamen Selbstmordversuch gegen Ende der Spiele diese Regel brechen und gehen als Gewinner aus den Spielen hervor. Meine Gedanken zum Film:
Da ich erst gestern Abend den Film im Kino gesehen habe, hatte ich gestern Nachmittag nur die Möglichkeit mir die Filmkritiken anderer Blogger durchzulesen, welche bereits am 22.03 den Film sehen konnten. Viele davon waren begeistert vom Film und der Umsetzung, sowie auch vom Cast und der generellen Atmosphäre, welche im Film geschaffen wurde.
Leider verstehe ich diese vielen positiven Kritiken nicht ganz, da Teile im Film mich überhaupt nicht angesprochen haben und das passiert ist, wovor ich mich gefürchtet habe und zwar, dass der Film dem Buch lange nicht das Wasser reichen kann.
Auch ich habe mich durch die ganze Werbung der letzten Monate hypen lassen und auch der Trailer hat mich im Vorhinein überzeugt und ich konnte es kaum erwarten auch den Film zum grandiosen Buch zu sehen. Leider wurde ich aber enttäuscht..

Zu einem hat mir die Kameraführung so etwas von überhaupt nicht gefallen. Die Bilder, auch schon zu beginn bei der ‚Ernte’, waren unruhig, verwackelt und verworren, dass ich nach 15 Minuten Kopfschmerzen davon bekommen habe. Mir ist zwar klar, dass man damit wahrscheinlich den inneren Konflikt und Zerrissenheit der Protagonisten und des Systems widerspiegeln wollte, aber das war eindeutig ‚too much’.
Im Gegenzug dafür haben sich die Macher des Filmes sehr mit Effekten und dem Soundtrack zurück gehalten und alles wirkte sehr ‚in sich gekehrt’. Was zwar ganz nett war, wenn man die Bücher nicht kennt, aber für mich hat das eine komplett andere Atmosphäre geschaffen, als jene, die im Buch spürbar war.
Diese Geschichte erzählt eine Dystopie, eine Post- Apokalypse und diese hätte mehr Spannung, mehr Power, mehr Energie gebraucht, aber es war alles sehr zurück genommen und einiges verniedlicht, wie es aber im Buch nicht ist. Im Buch wird man fortgespült in eine neue Welt, mitgerissen in einem Strudel aus Verzweiflung, Unglaube und Brutalität und alles passiert furchtbar schnell und intensiv, aber hier im Film zieht es sich langsam hin, wie ein kleiner, plätschernder Bach. Auf mich wirkte es fast schon so, als hätten sie extra das Tempo raus genommen und alles mehr auf ‚Mädchen-Film’ getrimmt, damit sie den Erfolg von Twilight nachmachen können. Aber für mich hat das überhaupt nicht funktioniert.
Leider hat mich auch der Cast nicht überzeugen können und das nicht nur von der schauspielerischen Leistung, sondern auch vom Aussehen. Meiner Meinung nach waren Gale, Peeta, Prim ziemliche Fehlgriffe, vom Auftreten und Aussehen und leider konnte mich auch Cinna (Lenny Kravitz – den ich normalerweise total gerne mag) nicht überzeugen.
Dafür war aber Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss) gut gewählt und sie hat auch den Ernst und den Willen von Katniss sehr gut wiedergegeben. Auch Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) wurde hervorragend getroffen und Harrelson hat einen fantastischen Job gemacht, diesem Charakter Leben einzuhauchen. Ebenso waren Effie und Präsident Snow sehr ähnlich zu dem, wie sie im Buch beschrieben wurden und ich war zufrieden mit ihrer Darstellung. Vor allem bei Präsident Snow (Donald Sutherland) hatte ich genauso wie im Buch diese gruseliges Kribbeln im Bauch, wenn er auf der Bildfläche erschien.

Besonders gefallen hat mir aber die bildliche Umsetzung bei den Kostümen und auch bei der Umgebung. Zuerst die authentische, ärmliche Szenerie im Distrikt 12 und im Gegenzug dazu das farbenfrohe, überladene und dekadente Kapitol. Diese Gegensätze spiegelten auch die Lebenssituation gut wieder, die zeigt, dass die Menschen in den Distrikten um ihr tägliches Überleben kämpfen müssen, während die im Kapitol Lebenden nur so in ihrem Überfluss schwimmen. Das hat mir sogar am besten im ganzen Film gefallen, neben Katniss und Haymitch.
Soundtrack:
Ebenfalls enttäuschend, da ein richtiger Soundtrack sehr wenig vorhanden war und es kamen keine großen Gefühle durch die Musik auf, wie ich es in anderen Filmen zu schätzen weiß.
Fazit:
Ein durchschnittlicher Film, den man sich zwar ansehen kann, aber nicht unbedingt muss, da es bessere gibt. Wenn man zum Nachdenken angeregt werden möchte und gerne eine Dystopie hätte, sollte man auf alle Fälle den Film auslassen und zuerst das Buch lesen, da sonst viel Sinn, Gefühl und Stimmung verloren geht.

Der erste Teil ‚Wald der tausend Augen’ in der Buchserie ‚The Forest of Hands and Teeth’ entführt die Leser in eine surreale Dystopie, in eine Welt, welche aus einem Horrorfilm stammen könnte. Es wird in der Gegenwart die Geschichte von Mary erzählt, welche in einem Dorf mitten im Wald lebt, das umgeben ist von einem Zaun und dem Forest of Hands and Teeth. Der Zaun ist dazu da, um die Dorfangehörigen vor den Bewohnern des Waldes zu beschützen, welche tödlich sind. Wer sich noch keinen Reim aus dem Namen machen konnte… hierbei handelt es sich um Zombies und sie werden auch genauso beschrieben wie wir sie kennen: zerfressene Körper, hängende Glieder, eingesackte Augen und alles zusammen blutverschmiert und stöhnend wandern sie umher, ewiglich untot auf der Suche nach lebendem Fleisch.
Von Thema her hätte mich das Buch wirklich sehr interessiert und auch der Weltenaufbau von Ryan hat mich überzeugt, doch das war so ziemlich alles.
Durch die Schreibweise von Ryan hatte ich die ganze Zeit über das Gefühl das Buch nur aus einer Distanz lesen zu können. Nichts wurde definitiv beschrieben was Gefühl, Reaktionen und Handlungen betrifft und oft waren längere Zeitspannen dazwischen, die dann im Nachhinein erzählt wurden. So etwas mag ich leider gar nicht, weil ich bevorzuge eine Handlung, die während dessen passiert, während ich es lese und in der ich mit fiebern kann mit den Charakteren.
Aber gut, hier wäre es mir sowieso egal gewesen, weil ich nämlich mit der Hauptfigur Mary nie warm geworden bin. Von den ersten Seiten an schwärmt sie einem Typen nach, dann bekommt sie endlich, nachdem der Leser ihre Weinerei 2/3 des Buches ertragen musste, und dann ist er ihr nicht genug – weil sie will das Meer sehen! JA genau – es geht hier die ganze Zeit um das verdammte Meer, das Mary unbedingt sehen will und dafür ist sie bereit alles und jeden zu opfern. Noch dazu trifft sie einige sehr stupide und auch egoistische Entscheidungen, nur um sich im Nachhinein ständig zu fragen warum sie das getan hat und suhlt in ihrem Selbstmitleid und schlechtem Gewissen. Und dieser rote Faden zieht sich durch das gesamte Buch!
Außerdem war es mehr als unsinnig, dass sich Mary ständig um ihr Liebesleben den Kopf zerbrochen hat und auch über andere unnötige Dinge sinniert hat, während 1 Meter weiter ein Drahtzaun aufgebaut ist auf dem Zombies hängen und nach ihr lechzen und stöhnen. Hallo?? Was soll ich sagen?- man muss Prioritäten setzten und irgendwie haben hier im Buch die Figuren manchmal sehr bizarr gehandelt. Einziger Lichtblick war Travis, oder der Hund.
Ein weiterer Tiefpunkt war das Ende, das eigentlich irgendwo mitten in der Geschichte kam und keine der offenen Fragen, die sich die Protagonisten unentwegt gestellt haben, beantwortet. Ich wäre ja schon zufrieden gewesen, wenn ich wüsste, dass diese im nächsten Band aufgearbeitet werden um die Mysterium zu erklären, auf die man im Plot gestoßen ist. Aber nein, Ryan zieht es lieber vor das nächste Buch aus der Sicht einer anderen Person zu erzählen und das war für mich der ausschlaggebende Punkt, das nächste Buch sicher nicht zu lesen.
Ich bin nun wirklich sehr endtäuscht von diesem Buch weil mich das Genre Zombie und Horror, gemixt mit einer Liebesgeschichte sehr interessiert hätte. Daher bin ich jedem Dankbar, der mir zu diesem Thema andere gute Buchtipps geben könnte! Würde mich freuen, thx.
