Okay, this one is an easy decition for me: The Indonesian Cover is the best no matter what – I like the picture, it’s romantic and dreamy, like the book itself. I don’t like the original english Cover because the pic is just boring and not very appealing. The others are characterless as well and not very attractive.

Okay, dieses mal ist es eine leichte Entscheidung for mich: das Indonesische Cover ist auf alle Fälle das beste von allen – Ich liebe das Bild darauf weil es romantisch und verträumt ist, genau wie das Buch selber. Aber das englische Original gefällt mir überhaupt nicht, das Bild ist nur langweilig und auch nicht sehr ansprechend. Die übrigen Covers sind allesamt langweilig und nicht besonders schön.

So keep on reading, if you’re curious which books made in the best rankings and which just fall through it.

.SHADOWFEVER (Fever Series) by Karen Marie Moning – I liked the whole Fever series but the last book of it was incredible and I just love Shadowfewer. It was so thrilling and great and the scenes with Jericho and Mac were indescribable. I’ve no words for it!!

LOVER UNBOUND (Black Dagger Brotherhood) by J. R. Ward – I know, this should be the second place but I just can’t put the Black Daggers on the second rank, because they have earned it to stay also on top, therefore I’ve decided to have two 1st places! I love, love, love Wards series and I can’t thank her as much as she has made me happy with her books. I love the love stories in it but beside that, the plot is amazingly thrilling and there was not even a second where I got boring and when I’ve started one of her books I couldn’t do anything else than read. The biggest, greatest addictive-making book series I know so far!

LOVER UNBOUND (Black Dagger Brotherhood) von J. R. Ward  - Ich weiß, eigentlich sollte jetzt der zweite Platz kommen aber ich kann die Black Daggers einfach nicht auf den zweiten Rang geben, weil sie ebenso ganz nach Oben gehören und deshalb habe ich beschlossen zwei erste Plätze zu haben! Ich liebe, liebe, liebe Wards Reihe und ich kann ihr gar nicht so sehr für ihre Bücher danken, wie sie mich mit ihnen glücklich gemacht hat. Ich liebe die Liebesgeschichten in den Büchern, aber auch die ganze restliche Handlung, welche überraschenderweise immer unglaublich spannend ist und ich hatte keine Sekunde, in der ich mich gelangweilt hätte, und wenn ich einmal ein Buch angefangen habe, konnte ich nichts anderes mehr tun als zu lesen. Die beste, großartigste süchtig-machende Buchreihe, die ich bisher kenne!

IRON QUEEN (Iron Fey Series) by Julie Kagawa – On the third place I put the Iron Fey Series because I loved the characters and their dialogs and behavior. I had fun while reading and I got sad feelings but also happy ones and I smiled a lot because of Puck or because of his constant fight with Ash. And I adore Kagawa’s imagination and how she described a wonderful new world full of fairies. *lovely*

Herbstnacht (Plötzlich Fee Reihe) von Julie Kagawa – Am dritten Platz habe ich die Plötzlich Fee Serie gewählt, weil ich die Charaktere liebe, ihre Dialoge und auch ihr Verhalten. Während dem Lesen erlebte ich traurige Momente, aber auch schöne und ich musste oft lächeln weil Puck immer die Stimmung gehoben hat und besonders witzig fand ich seinen ewigen Streit mit Ash. Und ich liebe Kagawas Vorstellungskraft und wie sie eine neue Welt, voll mit Feen, beschreibt. *herrlich*

CITY OF GLASS (Mortal Instruments) by Cassandra Clare – At this point I’ve also to mention the Mortal Instrument Series because Clare created a whole new world of Shadowhunters and special characters which I love and make me wish to be a part in their world.

CITY OF GLASS (Chroniken der Unterwelt) von Cassandra Clare – An dieser Stelle muss ich die Chroniken der Unterwelt Reihe erwähnen weil Clare eine komplett neue Welt geschaffen hat, voll mit Schattenjäger und besonderen Charakteren, welche ich liebe und mich wünschen lassen ein Teil ihrer Welt zu sein..

NIGHTSHADE (Nightshade Series) by Andrea Cremer – I had no idea what this book was about before I’ve started to read it and I’ve to say that I’ve only bought it because of the nice cover and because I needed one more book at my online order, so I just choose this book because auf the Cover. But I’m so happy about it and I’m totally surprised that I did like the book so much and I’ve already read it twice. I love Ren and I hope that he’ll end up with Calla instead of Shay.

NIGHTSHADE – Die Wächter (Nightshade Serie) von Andrea Cremer – Ich hatte keine Ahnung über was dieses Buch handelt bevor ich es angefangen habe zu lesen und ich habe es nur gekauft, weil es so ein schönes Cover hat und ich bei meiner online Bestellung noch ein Buch gebraucht habe, deshalb habe ich dieses  aufgrund des Covers gewählt. Aber ich bin total froh darüber und ich bin wirklich überrascht gewesen wie sehr ich das Buch gemocht habe und in der Zwischenzeit habe ich es schon zweimal gelesen. Ich liebe Ren und hoffe, dass er bei Calla landet, anstatt Shay.

THE RECKONING (Darkest Power Series) by Kelley Armstrong – I’ve found this series by accident because I haven’t read any other books of Armstrong so far and I just started to read it because I didn’t have any other books around. And then from the first pages on I was blown away because it was thrilling and exciting and definitely also a book, which I couldn’t’ lay away. AND- with every book in this series it got better and better and the last was brilliant.

THE RECKONING (Dunkle Mächte Serie) von Kelley Armstrong – Ich bin nur durch Zufall auf diese Reihe gekommen, da ich noch kein anderes Buch dieser Autorin gelesen habe, und dieses hier habe ich angefangen weil ich zu dieser Zeit einfach kein anderes Buch zur Hand hatte. Und dann wurde ich von den ersten Seiten an einfach weg geblasen und mitgerissen weil es so spannend war und definitiv ein Buch ist, das ich nicht mehr aus der Hand legen konnte. Und dazu wurde die Serie mit jedem weiteren Buch noch besser und interessanter und das Letzte war einfach brillant.

HOST (Host Series) by Stephenie Meyer – At first I was really skeptic and the beginning wasn’t so great and I had no idea what it is about, but after the first few chapters I really got in the story and I had a really great time while reading this book with many up and downs. The book and the characters were great and I liked it even more than the Twilight saga.

SEELEN (Host Series) von Stephenie Meyer – Am Anfang war ich etwas skeptisch und der Beginn war auch nicht so toll und ich hatte keine Ahnung was auf mich zukommt, aber nach den ersten Kapiteln bin ich wirklich in die Geschichte hinein gekommen und ich hatte beim Lesen eine tolle Zeit mit vielen Hoch und Tiefs. Das Buch und die Charaktere waren wirklich großartig und ich mochte es sogar noch mehr als die Twilight Saga.

.Smaragdgrün (Edelstein Trilogy) by Kerstin Gier – This book was recommended to me by a friend but she told me that it is written very childish and therefore I had no high expectation about this books. But when I started it I was totally thrilled and I like the idea about a time travelling gene, and though it’s really a YA book I enjoyed it very much and it was fun to read it.

Smaragdgrün (Edelstein Trilogie) von Kerstin Gier – Dieses Buch wurde mir von einer Freundin empfohlen aber sie hat mir gesagt, dass es sehr kindlich geschrieben ist und deshalb hatte ich auch keine hohen Erwartungen an das Buch. Aber sobald ich angefangen habe war ich total begeistert und ich mochte die Idee mit dem Zeitreise Gen, und obwohl es wirklich ein richtiges Jugendbuch ist, habe ich es sehr genossen und Spaß beim Lesen gehabt.

.THE DARK FLAME (Evermore Series) by Alyson Noel – The first place goes without a question to the Evermore series by Noel. These books are the worst I’ve read so far and the whole series (6 books long) the only main question is about if the two main characters can have sex or not. There were so many ridiculous things in it that I don’t want to think about it again. *yuck*

DUNKLES FEUER (Evermore Series) von Alyson Noel – Der erste Platz geht ohne Fragen an die Evermore Reihe von Noel. Diese Bücher sind die schlimmsten, die ich bisher gelesen habe und die ganze Serie (6 Bücher lang) dreht sich alles darum ob die zwei Hauptcharaktere nun Sex haben oder nicht. Darin waren soo viele lächerliche Dinge, dass ich gar nicht mehr daran denken möchte. *bäh*

.I AM NUMBER FOUR (Lorien Legacies Series) by Pittacus Lore – Though I’ve finished this book and have also watched the movie, it was a really boring and irrelevant book. The action was absurd and the characters weren’t well developed.

ICH BIN NUMMER VIER (Lorien Legacies Series) von Pittacus Lore – Ich habe das Buch zwar zu Ende gelesen und auch den Film gesehen, aber es war mehr als nur ein belangloses Buch, das nicht langweiliger hätte sein können. Die Action im Buch war einfach nur absurd und die Charaktere waren nicht gut ausgearbeitet..

HUSH, HUSH (Hush, Hush Series) by Becca Fitzpatrick – Don’t know what else I should say about this book. I’ve told enough about my opinion considering this book. The plot was predictable and boring, Nora was as dump as a post and Patch was not sexy but a damn stalker.

.KITTY AND THE MIDNIGHT HOUR (Kitty Norville Series) by Carrie Vaughn – I can’t say much about this book either because I’ve to break up after 30-40 pages because it was so crackbrained. The main character was weird and the whole story about wolves and the pack leader were just strange.

KITTY AND THE MIDNIGHT HOUR (Kitty Norville Series) von Carrie Vaughn – Ich kann nicht viel zu diesem Buch sagen, nur dass ich es schon 30-40 Seiten beenden musste, weil es so hirnrissig war. Die Hauptperson war komisch und die ganze Geschichte über die Wölfe und das Rudel war einfach nur sonderbar.

The book, the characters, the plot was not my taste and didn’t grab me. I didn’t care about anything at all in it. I broke up about in the middle of the book because I couldn’t take it any longer. *gag*

EVERNIGHT (Evernight Series) von Claudia Gray – Ich will auch über dieses Buch nicht mehr viel sagen, da meine Rezi sich schon genügend darüber ausgelassen hat. Das Buch, die Charaktere, die Handlung waren nicht nach meinem Geschmack und konnten mich nicht im Geringsten fesseln. Mir war darin alles total egal. Ich habe ungefähr in der Mitte abgebrochen, weil ich es nicht länger aushalten konnte.*würg*

Choosen (House of Night Series) by P.C. and Kistin Cast – I’ve not broken up a book so far in this series but I’m thinking about breaking up the whole series. I’ve read till the seventh book, including ‘Burned’ and this series becomes more and more unnecessary and boring with every book. The main problem is that I can’t stand the leading character Zoey any more.

Erwählt (House of Night Serie) von P.C. und Kistin Cast – Ich habe zwar in dieser Serie noch kein Buch abgebrochen aber ich überlege, ob ich die ganze Serie beenden soll. Ich habe es bis zum siebenten Buch geschafft, inklusive ‘Verbrannt’ und diese Serie wird mit jedem weiteren Buch unnötiger und langweilig. Das größte Problem ist, dass ich den Hauptcharakter Zoey einfach nicht mehr aushalte.

My thoughts about the book:
I love this book, I love the characters in it, I love the main story, the stories beside, I love the beginning, the middle part and the great end. I love all in it, especially Vishous and Jane, but also John, Zsadist, and so on. There is only little which I would have like a bite in another way, but that are just peanuts. The fifth book in this absolutely adorable great book series is the best one so far and I can’t believe it that it was over so fast. This book has made me cry, laugh, think and the whole time I was like handcuffed but not only to Vishous and Jane but also to the other things which happened all around.

Part 5 tells the story about the background and history of Vishous who couldn’t have had a more brutal childhood in a fighter camp of his father. Not only he has to fight against the other pretrans to get enough food to survive, but also his father, who was a sadistic vampire, used every possibility not only to abuse him but also to mutilate him. Vishous is carrying these scars not only on the outside on his skin, but also in the inside, which force him to live his preferences at sex in the violent way. But then he gets shoot and Dr. Jane Whitcomb saves his life and with her authoritative direction, she doesn’t only catch her patient but also the man inside, who feels the wish to be bond to her. But it wouldn’t be Ward’s style if she lets everything happen without any complications and they both would be happily ever after so easy. No; at first Vishous has to face his past, has to admit his mother and to go through his destiny and his responsibilities, because he has to overlook the big picture, to ensure the future of his kind.

Even if I have already thought that part 1 or part 3 are wonderful, then I have to say that it’s getting better and better and part 5 reached a new exhilarating level. Not only from the love story which stands in the focus (and which are always great) but also because off all the things which happens around, like the thing with the Lessers or with John Matthew and his friends or with the virgin of the writing. I like it so much that we get insights of the lives of the different people and always several supporting plots run side by side till they get together to one big plot – so fantastically that I’ve no words for it.
Therefore I’m really very curiously about what will become of John Matthew or what will happen to Phury and Cormia and whether they get together or whether Bella keeps her baby and survives the birth or what the Lessers will use against the vampires in their next plan? The tension rises with every book and it tickles on the skin, so urgently is the need to read on.

I have become a gigantic fan of this series and I can only thank Ward for her great work and I will read the books over and over again or declare parts of it to my personal treasure.
And now that I’ve finished this book again I’ve to admit that I’m really sad because I simply don’t want it to be over so fast again. I want more of Vishous and Jane and the other warriors who can be brutally hard, but are at the same time also intelligent and sensitive.
Therefore at this point I would like to use the quotation of Paul Sweeney, because I couldn’t express my feelings any better concerning the Black Dagger books:

„You know you’ve read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend.” (Paul Sweeney)

All in all:
The absolutely best book in the Black Dagger series so far und I can’t get enough of it. Please more, more from the brother and from the vampires and from all of it!!!

Meine Gedanken zum Buch:
Ich liebe dieses Buch – ich liebe die Charaktere darin, die Hauptgeschichte, die Nebenstränge, den Anfang, den Mittelteil und das tolle Ende. Ich liebe alles darin, besonders Vishous und Jane, aber auch John, Zsadist usw. Es gibt wenig, sehr wenige Dinge, welche ich vielleicht eine Spur anders gewollte hätte, aber das sind Kleinigkeiten. Der fünfte Teil ist der absolut Beste in der ganzen bisherigen Reihe und ich kann es noch gar nicht fassen, dass es vorbei ist. Das Buch hat mich zum Weinen gebracht, zum Lachen, zum Nachdenken und ich war die ganze Zeit über wie gefesselt aber nicht nur von Vishous oder Jane, sondern von allem, was auch rund herum passiert ist.

Band 5 erzählt die Hintergrundgeschichte und Herkunft von Vishous der keine brutalere Kindheit im Kämpferlager seines Vaters erleben hätte können. Nicht nur, dass er sich gegen andere Prätrans durchsetzten musste, um genügend Essen zum Überleben zu finden, nutze sein Vater jede Gelegenheit um seinen eigenen Sohn zu quälen, zu demütigen und seinen Willen zu brechen. Er schreckte auch nicht davor zurück ihm unzählige Misshandlungen zu zufügen, sondern verstümmelte ihn ebenso. Diese Narben trägt Vishous nun nicht nur äußerlich zur Schau, sondern auch im Inneren, welche ihn zwingen seine Vorlieben beim Sex auf die brutalere Weise auszuleben. Erst als die Ärztin Dr. Jane Whitcomb sein Leben rettet und ihm gebieterisch Vorschriften macht, erreicht sie ihn nicht nur als Patienten sondern auch als Mann, der den Wunsch verspürt sich zu binden. Doch es wäre nicht Wards Stil, wenn alles von Anfang an glatt gehen würde, und die Beiden ohne Probleme gemeinsam glücklich sein könnten. Nein; zuerst muss sich Vishous seiner Vergangenheit stellen, seine Mutter anerkennen und seine Pflichten nachgehen, die das große Ganze im Auge haben und nicht das Glück von nur 2 Personen, um seine Rasse für die Zukunft zu sichern.

Auch wenn ich gedacht habe, dass der Teil 1 oder Teil 3 großartig sind, dann muss ich sagen wird es von mal zu mal besser und Teil 5 hat wieder ein neues, berauschendes Niveau erreicht. Nicht nur von der Liebesgeschichte her, die im Fokus steht (und die immer toll sind) sondern auch rund herum spitzt sich alles immer mehr zu, um die Lesser oder um John Matthew und seine Freunde oder um und die Jungfrau der Schrift.
Ich finde es klasse, dass man Einblicke in die Leben der verschiedenen Personen bekommt und immer mehrere Handlungsstränge nebeneinander herlaufen und sich zu einem großen Ganzen zusammen bilden – so fantastisch, dass ich keine Worte dafür finde.
Daher bin ich schon furchtbar neugierig darauf was mit John nun passiert, was aus Phury und Cormia wird und ob sie auch zu einander finden, ob Bella ihr Baby behält und die Geburt überlebt oder was die Lesser als nächsten Schlag gegen die Vampire einsetzen wird. Die Spannung steigt mit jedem Buch und es kitzelt auf der Haut, so dringend ist das Bedürfnis weiter zu lesen.
Ich bin ein riesiger Fan dieser Serie geworden und kann Ward nur für ihre Arbeit danken und ich werde sicherlich die Bücher immer wieder lesen bzw. Teile daraus zu meinem persönlichem Schatz erklären.

Und nun, da ich fertig bin, muss ich zugeben, dass ich traurig aus dem Buch heraus gehe, weil ich einfach noch nicht will dass es schon wieder vorbei ist. Ich will mehr von Vishous und Jane und den anderen Kriegern, die brutal hart sein können, aber gleichzeitig auch intelligent und sensibel sind.
Daher möchte ich an dieser Stelle das Zitat von Paul Sweeney verwenden, denn besser könnte ich meine Gefühle bezüglich den Black-Dagger-Bücher ausdrücken:

„You know you’ve read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend.” (Paul Sweeney)

Cover:
Wie immer im gleichen Stil wie die anderen Covers in der Serie auch. Obwohl mir hier das Bild, wie auch die Farbe besser gefällt, als bei den anderen.

All in all:
Der absolute beste Teil bisher in der Black Dagger Reihe und ich kann nicht mehr genug davon bekommen. Bitte mehr, mehr von den Brüdern und von den Vampiren und allem was es zu bieten hat!!

My thoughts about the book:
I’ve held myself together really long and tried to read this book to the end, but with the best will I’ve to break up in the middle of it! I haven’t read something absurd like that (thanks to god) not in a very long time and I have no idea how someone is able to like this book.
Through the whole book I haven’t started to like the central figure Bianca, no notion why, but her story and also the whole plot in the book have let myself absolutely cold and have not moved my in the least or made me feel to care for any of it. This Bianca runs around like a 10-year-old girl that I only wanted to shake or slap and also the rest of it, the story, the plot and so on; all of it has already been there for 1.000 times *boring²*

Nevertheless, I have tried to get into the story or to feel anything when she has made friends with this boy named Lucas, but also this guy has not interested me at all. And all along Gray has tried to make this boarding school look dangerous or mystical, particularly for Bianca. She’s forced by her parents to go to school there, while they teach in it. However, from the beginning Bianca feels totally wrong in this place, not only in the boarding school but also among the other students who look so much better and attractive than she does. (bla bla bla, … anyhow we had all that already somewhere and parts of it I already know from countless other books…)

All along she cries and pities herself and the more she suffers and it lets the reader know it how poor she is, the less I like her. Especially because she does nothing to change anything and just runs around stupidly.

But the reason why I have stopped was the following:
!!! SPOILERS – please do not read on you still would like to read this book still!!!

Half of the book Bianca is described absolutely innocent and she feels wrong at this place and she notices that something in the Evernight boarding school is not right, or that something with her school-followers is not right. And then suddenly she bites – BIANCA bites a guy and drinks his blood! Okay, it was no surprise that there would appear vampires soon, but nevertheless it was astonishing that Bianca has behaved all the time like a small, scarred, little school child, while she KNEW that she is a vampire and has only waited to becomes also an ‚ adult‘ vampire- woman who drinks blood.

This was for me the point which was definitively too contradictory and just let me stop reading the book with rolling eyes and shaking head. For me the whole story around Bianca and particularly her behavior and her thoughts has proved no logic and in my opinion the whole plot was sucked out of the fingers. *terrible*

Cover:
Also the cover doesn’t please me at all, no matter whether the English or the German one because both are just boring and ordinary.

All in all:
This book was for me an absolute time of waste and a book which I couldn’t finish. Something which happens to me very seldom, but this book did it.

Now I’ve found again another challenge which is about the book covers and because I’m always very interested in the covers, so I thought this is the perfect challenge for me!
The Idea for the challenge got Bookcrazy from Goodreads, but unfortunately she doesn’t have a blog which host the challenge.

Habe nun wieder eine neue Challenge entdeckt die sich mit den Buchcovern beschäftigt, und da ich sowieso oft nur nach den Covern gehe, ist diese Challenge perfekt für mich!
Die Idee dazu hatte Bookcrazy von Goodreads, aber leider hat sie keinen Blog der es hostet.

For every letter in the word ‘2012’ you should find an item on the cover. You can choose the books from all genres, but only 1 cover for 1 letter. And you can of course also use books you’ve already used for other challenges. Period: 01.01.2012 – 31.12.2012; Book: 17

Also um was geht’s bei der Challenge?
